I'm Dreaming of a Midsummer Christmas
Giovanna was writing. The envelope was already addressed. The Bennets didn't really 'do' Christmas presents per se, but Carmella was too Italian to forgo notes. Or lots of food, for that matter.

Dearest Mother,
I miss you. I hope you are enjoying the season. I appreciate all of your support throughout the year and especially your confidence in my ability to handle the whole diplomacy thing. I know you'll always be there for me, and I'm grateful.
I love you.

Giovanna

Dearest Father,

I miss you, but the only reason I think I can handle whatever challenges are coming is because of everything I've learned from you. You've never let me falter from my potential. I will do my best not to let you down. I love you.

Giovanna

She slipped them in the envelope and sealed it.

She smiles. "I have, yes." She gets up from her chair and goes to kiss him on the cheek. "There's a good international mailing service office in walking distance. Anything in mind after that?"

"As a matter of fact, yes. So there'll be something under the tree for you too, but most of your present won't wait."

A raised eyebrow. "Most?" she asks, staying close. "Do you think maybe you're a little carried away?"

"Yes, but my family isn't around to make a big deal of Christmas this year, so you get to be subjected to me getting carried away and taking you with me. In your closet you will find three brand new, custom tailored dresses. I took the liberty of memorizing your measurements when we went out shopping. The red one is for tonight, and getting carried away to La Bernadin, New York's top 5 star French restaurant, where Michael Couvreux will be selecting the wine to go with our dinner, after which we have our own viewing box at the New York ballet's production of the Nutcracker."

She blinks for a second processing the rather lavish itinerary -- as impressed at Andrew's keeping track of an entire evening's schedule as by the lavishness, really -- then pulls him in for a thorough kiss. "Andrew, you're ridiculous," she says, not complaining at all.

He kisses her thoroughly, still holding her close when he has his breath again to continue.
"My ridiculosity has only begun. Dress number two, the green one, is for Christmas Eve, where we have reservations at Masa, where we have front and center seats at the bar for Takayama's five star part-dinner, part-performance-art cooking display, after which we have tickets for Radio City Music Hall's Christmas Spectacular with the Rockettes."

Giovanna's standing there in his arms looking astonished for a moment. "That sounds amazing..." Really, it's like he's going to keep them too busy being impressed and overindulged to miss Christmas in Hammer Bay. And then something else registers. "....Ma foi, Andrew, what could the third one possibly be for, after all that?"

He grins, eyes sparkling. "The positively scandalous silver dress is so I can admire you on New Years Eve where we have tickets to a show on Broadway, after which we have dinner reservations at The View restaurant before we go upstairs for dancing, a cheese and dessert buffet, their chocolate fountain, and, of course, the reason they're called The View is because our table overlooks Times Square for the countdown and dropping of the ball to ring in the new year in Times Square."
Sure, technically they shouldn't be allowed, but diplomat status and money still have weight in this town.

"Scandalous? I'm going to have to try very hard to pull off 'scandalous,'" she remarked, grinning.
"We can take all the 'you know that's not necessaries' as given, I'm sure." She says, nuzzling against him a little. And she is sure. Andrew's an incredibly smart guy, their previous litany of nerves notwithstanding. He knows full well impressing her isn't the issue. But that doesn't mean they won't enjoy it all immensely.

He returns the nuzzling, one arm around her, the other resting on her hip. "You shouldn't have to try too hard, the dress will take you halfway there. And I know it isn't necessary, but we don't know how many opportunities we'll have for something like this, and I want to take advantage, just for a little while, of being young, dumb and rich with an incredibly hot girlfriend. Merry Christmas a little early."

She blushes a little.
"No objections, then. Besides, you're going to run out of dumb soon enough, unless there's more untapped reservoirs under all the genius bits...which I'm not completely ruling out, mind. Merry Christmas."

She just gets held for a moment more, then straightens a little. "But first, I've got a letter to mail.

They haven't yet had as much chance as she'd've liked to discuss Gabrielle Santiago and her file on the Purifiers any further than their existence. Part of her feels they should get into it, part of her feels that serious stuff can wait a little longer. And the first part feels the second part is slacking, but Andrew's got his hands on her, so the second part wins right now.

He kisses her again, holding her close, then, reluctantly, steps back. "I'm sure I have no end of dumb. Starting with the fact that while I have our itinerary memorized, and already took care of the limousines, I'll be counting on you to make sure I'm dressed and ready on time or I'll probably be reading the newspaper and conference notes right through dinner time tonight. Go get your letters mailed. Mind tossing my note home in with it?"

"It's what I do best. Well, that and well-directed violence. And of course I don't."

He nods, rushing into his room to print out his letter home. It takes a bit, since, along with the Christmas letter, he has a detailed report of their activities, leaving out the parts that'd make his mother worry.
"Glad someone does it well. Otherwise I'd probably disappear for days." he calls as he's working, finally returning, stuffing the pages into a manilla envelope.
"Thanks, I'd have been late getting letters home too if you hadn't reminded me. Mom would have had my hide."
