SHIELD Thanksgiving (meme)
Unsurprisingly, SHIELD had plenty of people who stress-baked, used cooking as an outlet, or just like tinkering with food (in and outside the Biolab). This widespread trend in culinary skills made Thanksgiving more of a gastric marathon than a hearty meal and emails would go around jokingly about fasting on Tuesday and Wednesday to prepare, or rooms commandeered and stuffed with pillows and blankets for the post-eating/drinking food comas.

The buffet tables were daunting to say the least, groaning boards living up to their name, and by the time you went up for seconds, the spread was different. After a tragic mix up between the hot mustard and nacho cheese, all the dishes were clearly marked with what was in them, and even some suggestions for pairing written in pencil by previous grazers. Val went for the mulled wine first, for liquid courage.

"Well if things get out of hand can always call in a few favors for a vomit comet," Brad says in between bite of food and sips of beer.

She makes a face. "Please, no vomit-comet-talk while we are eating," she pleads. "But I'm sure there be department feuds after this, as usual."

"It's not that bad as long as you have an iron stomach," Brad says still eating. "But then again I like to do a barrel-roll loop-de-loop's at over mach 2 without problems."

She smirks at his offhanded boasting. "I have a stomach of a different kind of iron, thank you. Lena made me promise to not make anything hot for the meal. You have fun with those pop-a-wheelies."

"You should see if they will let you do a spicy food challenge day then. I know most of the pilots would get a kick out of that." Or get sent to the hospital for overdoing the spicy foods.

"With vats of lassi and beer to help with the burn," she agrees, liking the idea. "And I'm sure the labs could concoct some scary hot sauces too."

"Milk too. That always worked for me," Brad says. "If Tim was still here I'd be scared he make a crazy hot pepper beer."

She smiled faintly at the reminder of Tim. "He would and it'd probably eat through titanium, but he'd also think of some magic pill to neutralize the consequences too."

"Yeah those science guys do some crazy stuff," Brad says grinning, "Kind of makes you wonder how they do it."

"From what I've observed with Lena in Bio, it's either a wonderful, repeatable accident or more akin to them daring each other to break some law, legal or scientific," she admitted with a thoughtful squint.

"I think the dare thing is more likely. At least from what I remember of high school science," Brad says.

She nods sadly at that. "These guys are like high schoolers. With a insane budget at their disposal and access to too much caffeine."

Val gave him a long faced look, shaking her head. "If you get me in trouble with all of the R&D for cutting back on their fun money, I will have you grounded with the worse case arcophobia recorded."

"But that would just give me an excuse to visit the zero gravity theme park on Shield's money for therapy," Brad says smirking. "They got a 16 story free fall no bungee or parachute."

She laughed. "Perhaps. But I've seen what happens when the lab rats get angry and shun one of their kind. And I'm considered 'soft science'," she pointed out. "Though, yes your mother is a force of nature herself."
