Out for a walk
Martin patiently waited by the door for Manny. Since it was colder now, he wore a blazer on top of his vest, but the ever-present hat was still perched on his head.

Manny had said he needed to practice being around people and walking outside more, and Dr. Strange said that too...so Martin had been trying to go out on walks with Manny, though he still felt a little nervous when the streets got too crowded.

He smiled when he saw the armadillo man. "Where are we going today?"

"Que? No, it's not a hot sandwich. ..I mean it is, but it's not criminal," Manny tried to explain. "I just happen to know a guy who sells cheese steaks."

"Well of course it's a hot sandwich, that's silly. But does he know you?"

Manny decided not to try and explain the other meaning of "hot".

"Si, he used to work the stadiums back when I was wrestling. In fact I think that's-Oi! Mickey!"

A pot-bellied bald man with a black mustache turned at the sound. "Eh, Manny! Ya big mook! Get over here!" The man called back with a smile.

Martin was about to respond when they found this Mickey. Who at least wasn't anything like the mouse.

Martin politely stayed behind Manny and carefully took his hands out of his pockets so he could tip his hat when his introduction came.

When they came over the vendor moved to give Manny a hug, even if he couldn't quite reach around him.

"Good to see you, kid. How's life treating you?"

"Pretty good, Mickey. Pretty good. Mick, I want you to meet a friend of mine. This is Martin," Manny said by way of introduction.

Martin stepped around at the cue, and the young mage in essentially a three piece suit sans tie took off his hat to Mickey as a greeting. Better than handshakes. "Hello, nice to meet you!"

"You too." He seemed initially put out by the lack of handshake but he dismissed it easily enough. "So what can i do for you guys?"

Manny looks at Martin. "You still want that cheese steak?"

Martin stood politely by through the awkward moment of 'no handshake?' that often came. He knew it sometimes threw people off, and he tried to make up for it by being the little gentleman with a boyish smile. It was pretty good at charming a lot of people most of the time.

He shot that excited boyish smile at Manny. "Yes please!"

"Two cheese steaks, Mick!"

"Just 2? You're not going on a diet now, are you, Manny?"

Manny chuckled. "For now, Mick."

Martin shot Manny a slightly worried glance when Mickey wasn't looking. I don't have money, do you think he'd accept dubloons?

Don't worry, I'll get it, he mouthed.

Martin smiled back, relieved, and nodded while he put his hands back in his pockets and waited for the sandwiches. Thanks Hermano

Manny carefully removed a container from his belt, using his claws to unsnapped it. Inside were several smaller containers marked with different amounts of money. He gingerly removed one that said $10 and handed it to Mickey.

"Alright, shouldn't be long," the vendor replied as he put the change in the container and went to work."

Martin peeked over to see Manny's method of paying. Hmmm...interesting. A bit complicated but it worked he guessed.

It was a little chilly, he wondered if it bothered Manny. Do you get cold, Manny? He asked by shooting a telepathic message, to let the vendor work in peace.

I'm never going to get used to that, Manny thought for a moment. A little, but the shell has a lot of insulation.

It's okay, he responded to the thought Manny probably didn't mean to send, you do get used to it. It's pretty handy too! And okay, I'm glad you're not cold. Hopefully it won't be too cold to eat at the park.

Should be fine. If not, we'll just take our food back to hq.

"Here you guys go," Mick said, bringing the food up.

Martin nodded as he looked around and tried to stay a decent distance away from people passing them on the sidewalk. When the food was done, Martin smiled and took his hat off to the vendor with another short bow. "Thank you!" Though he didn't reach out to take the food, instead looking to Manny to see if he could do it for him. He could hold his hat out but he didn't like crumbs in his hat, and having a sandwich drop far deeper into a hat than it was supposed to weirded people out.
