"Uh..." He gave her the most awkward apologetic look ever as he let her free from the hug. He shouldn't have said that out loud, could've recovered without it being known he'd forgotten entirely until this moment. "I feel really bad about it but, okay, don't worry, totally remembered quite-possibly-in-time and I'll make up for it not registering until just now. Promise." He paused and thought about what he just said and realized that it was rather confusing. "I was going to say, thanks for putting up with me for...well then I just realized it's been nearly a year hasn't it? Didn't realize until now...I don't really think of that stuff so it slipped my mind. Sorry," he said again with a very apologetic look.
