Night Patrol (open)
It had been a few weeks since Dolemeck had ended up in Seattle. In that time, he lost someone, he found someone, he met new friends, got a new job, and he discovered a new purpose for himself. He agreed he would help Bram, Tyler, and their friends look for any supernatural beings. It was odd, but such a pact made him feel more at home than when he was in Manhattan by himself. This place, it made him feel welcome.

He had finally been to a barber shop for the first time and had his hair cut much shorter (as Bram spoke of how having long hair would be one more thing an enemy could grab, and his managers at work were not happy with him having waist length hair). It was short in the back, and long in the front, going past his chin a little bit. It was odd how changing one's hair and location could make a man feel brand new.

"I should have done this sooner." He whispered to himself as he shadow ported from one alley to the next. He was hellbent on finding the other two escaped demons from limbo who tried to drag him back there. But so far, he was unable to find them, or much of anything. Then again, most supernatural beings would not be stupid enough to make themselves so easy to find. But then again, what was he?

As he thought more on this, Dolemeck shadow ported once more. He could find nothing, so he decided to look for a bar to go to for some fun.

The Patriarch stood a few few behind them. The man's pale complexion and fine white clothes a stark contrast to the dark of the tavern. A mere glance at some of the bar's rougher patrons had them backing away from him.

"I understand you were following me, Mr. Morbius. If you wanted an audience, there are more direct ways of gaining my attention than stalking me."

The vampire lord calmly sat himself at a table.

Dolemeck's eyes turned red the minute the vampire Patiarch walked into the room. He gave off a small growl, his black fingernails sharpening into talons as he watched the man. He fought very hard to keep himself calm and to finish off the rest of his ale.

"This man is making me feel all sorts of... odd." Dolemeck admitted, his voice somewhat demonic in nature, just as it had been the night he and Tyler met.

The Patriarch turned calmly to assess Dolemeck.

"You must be the new arrival to my city."

"It's not your city," Tyler replied in an even tone.

"By default it very much is," the vampire replied unphased. He looks back at Dolemeck. "The man from Limbo, yes?"

"Aye..." Dolemeck was trying his very best not to stare at the Vampire Patriarch. He was shaking, trying to keep himself under control as best he could. "I told no one of this information publicly. So, how the bloody hell did you know?"

"Your tone could use more respect, but I will indulge your curiosity. When I discovered demons had appeared in the city and that Mr. Morbius and his fellows had not destroyed them, I decided I needed to remove the potential problem in my new territory," he explained. "I used my magic to summon and bind the demons. Once that was done I learned quite a bit about the incident, including you, Dolemeck."

"My apologies... I am trying to be as respectful as I can be." Wait, why was he apologizing to someone who was a bad guy!? Dolemeck groaned, slamming his mug down on the bar top and finally retracting his nails and allowing his eyes to go back to their unusual green in color. He panted a little, as it was taking everything he had to keep himself under control. "You were able to bind them? No wonder I could not find any trace of them in this city. And what is it you know about me, if I may ask? I am nothing special, kind sir."

"Perhaps, perhaps not Regardless I prefer to know about new faces entering Seattle, particularity those of a supernatural bent," the Patriarch explained. "I know you are in fact older than I am, born in the days of Arthur Pendragon, I know you were cursed by Morgan LeFay, banished to Limbo, and returned relatively recently to this dimension."

"Aye, that is all true." He turned a bit pale. more pale than he normally looked as he was being told all of this. Dolemeck got up from his seat by Tyler and took a new one across from Patriarch. He was uneasy about any other being knowing so much about him. Dolemeck did not know what to do, so perhaps listening to his enemy might be worth something down the road.

Tyler saw how uncomfortable this was making Dolemeck so he tried to take some of the elder vampire's attention off him.

"Were you responsible for the abductions and experiments on those humans?"

He raised an eyebrow in response to that.

"No, nor did I sanction it. The vampires of this city still do not seem to accept my suzerainty. I will have to remedy that."

"Meaning you can control your own coven, but not those outside of it?" He asked, his voice sounding meek. Any rage he had towards the Patriarch appeared to have dissipated when he brought up how much he knew about him. "And how do you plan on remedying that? If you are going to consider a war, I will have to advise you against such actions. Too many innocent beings would get trapped in the cross-hairs. And I doubt a man such as yourself would want such a mess on his hands, aye?"

"I am not that fool, Dracula. I prefer much more subtle means. It's nothing you and yours need concern yourselves with." The Patriarch actually smiled a bit at the latter comment. "No, no i would not. That actually brings me to why I decided to follow Mr. Morbius here."

A clandestine vampire war going on in the city? Just lovely.

"What do you mean?"

"I think he wants a truce with us for the time being." Dolemeck sighed, his shoulder slumped. "Or he wants US to get rid of his problem for him in return for something."

He shook his head, which was now lowered some. Talks like this were as old as time, and never ended well.

"Have I done what they say in this era and "hit the nail on the head", Sir?"

The Patriarch's eyes narrowed, somewhere between annoyance and..a darker impulse.

"It's a mutual issue. There's a tryk in Seattle."

Tyler visibly blanched.

"What is a tryk?" he blinked, looking between the two men. "Forgive me, for I have never heard of such a thing."

"A distant subspecies of vampire," Tyler said, beginning the explanation. "Typically they feast on other vampire species, but they're dangerous to everyone due mainly by one of their means of creating others of their kind. The males start off in a mistlike form and possess a host body. In time it solidifies into a Gutsucker and begins to feed on the host's blood. In the final stage the host is transformed into a tryk."

"Lovely." That was said with much sarcasm. "This is a danger to not just the vampires in this city, but to everyone! But where the bloody hell would we start to look for such a creature?"

"The potential threat is conceivably more than that, but I will let your friend here give you more details. As for finding it," the Patriarch hands them a map of Seattle, with certain areas circled. "These are locations that my kind were killed, in ways no human hunter would use. I imagine you can surmsie the tryk's hunting grounds with this information."

Dolemeck looked at the map he was handed, then in turns hands the map to Tyler. "I can Shadow port to two of these areas on the map. The other two I have never been... And if this threat is as bad as the kind Sir has stated, we may not wish to separate for a search."

He rubbed his chin, thinking more on this and how to plan it all out. "We would not be able to attack this creature in it's "mist" form, meaning we may have to slay the host."

"A tryk's mist-form is not like that of a normal vampire. While vampires can assume a mist-state, a tryk's mist-form is in fact they're birth-state. If it's killing, it's sad to say that the host is already dead and the tyrk has assumed control," Tyler said with a sigh. "You're right, we shouldn't separate. The average tryk is stronger than the average vampire."

"Shall we get started?" He got up from the table he shared with the Vampire Patriarch, giving him an honorable bow. It was the bow a Knight would give to a nobleman and very respectful. "Thank you for bringing this to our attention, kind Sir. I do apologize for my actions earlier."

The Patriarch seemed both genuinely surprised and flattered by the gesture.

"Thank you," he said, rising to his feet. "Your apology is accepted. I have work to do as well, providing what this may portend. Good hunting, gentlemen." With that the Patriarch left the bar.

"Wolf's Den," Greg said as he picked up the phone. He was doing a shift behind the bar for the night. He liked doing it once in awhile.
