"Ev'rybody says so." Eight year old Misha tossed his ball up and tried to catch it in his new mitt. "Mommies and Daddies have to be married. So I can't play house with you girls."

Misha didn't immediately wipe at the spot because Dad said that hurt girls' feelings. You weren't s'posed to hurt girls. Which didn't make a whole lot of sense to his eight year old brain because he'd seen the aunts and uncles practicing in the Danger Room and the aunts were girls and they got hurt sometimes by the uncles. Dad said he'd understand when he was older.
