King's Bishop to Queen's Rook.
Kayura had a long night talking with a ghost she had been trying to help. He wasn't actually that bitter about his death. He was just tired of waiting for something to happen to change his situation. They had figured out what might help him.

He had become fond of chess after learning it from a British business rival when he was a young man. So much so that he became a master at the game. He enjoyed the skill it took to play. While he was not famous in tournaments he still felt like he was a master of the game.

What he decided he really wanted was one last really good game. Only problem was that Kayura only knew how to play Go.

Maybe Amiko-san knew someone who played chess. She rubs her face a bit getting rid of the urge to sleep for now then knocks on Amiko's door.

"Amik-san? Are you busy?"

Kayura just pauses and blinks. "Well that's a coincidence I hadn't thought would happen. Would you be up for a game tonight? The spirit isn't active during the daytime."

"Of course. I try to keep my schedule a little flexible."

"I'll be sure to pack extra tea with the rest of my supplies tonight.... There's a way of Doing This Right. Small offering to the ghost to help keep him feeling calm." She rubs her jaw slightly.

"I will need a chess set for this. That shouldn't be hard to find."

"Not at all. I'll bring that. And yes, hospitality is important."

"It's part of the ritual. Making sure that you make the situation as familiar to the ghost as you can." She smiles a little. "My father once had to drink all night at a dive with the ghost of a business man."

Mother had not looked too sympathetic that time. "It's not a usual request that we hear. Sometimes it is knowing what happened to their family. There was actually one ghost who refused to cross over until the Red Socks on in America."

She would have considered it reasonable if it was a Japanese team with a history of loosing poorly. "Ghosts can have.... interesting requests. This is very mild."

"The Red Sox? What a long and lonely haunting that must have been." Everyone knew the Mets were the superior American team.

"He was very polite about it at least. He would just startle people when asking about the scores. He couldn't look at them himself."
