Svalin knew she'd have a hard time dealing with the events of the solstice and had avoided sleeping for a few days afterward. Even she needed to sleep at some point and she had finally drifted off. The nightmares started almost instantly. She didn't dream of dying. That never scared her. She dreamed of what happened after Nidhogg killed her.

The world burned and her son was responsible. He ruled Migard and Asgard with such brutality and such destruction. Solver stood over her while she knelt on the ground in surrender. His dual maces came up to strike her and Svalin screamed.

	"Aye," Svalin said. "It ist not so much the dying, that ist easy to deal with, but having to watch Migard and Asgard being destroyed by mine son ist too much to bear." "Thou knows the young lord shall never do such a thing," He removed one hand from her shoulder and sat down beside her, the remaining hand moving to wrap around her shoulder as she began to cry.

It felt wrong to see the lady cry, but he pulled her closer. "Aye, great destinies may end in great harm, but he hast thee. And Lady Vernique. I doth not think that between the two of ye, he shalt be anything less than the finest protector of both realms." He tried to give her a comforting look. "Dreams, milady, nothing more. Only sent to trouble thee."

	Svalin leaned into him, seeking warmth and the physical contact of another living person. She didn't believe it. Solver could be the destroyer of two worlds instead of their savior. "I pray to the All-Father that thou'rt correct," Svalin said after the crying abated a bit. For being the goddess of hope, Svalin had little of her own. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

He held her close throughout as he thought the same thing she was. Brandr gave her a small smile as he voiced the thought. "Thou'rt living up to thine title, my lady Goddess of Hope. Ist it a new duty of mine to be the optimistic one now?" He teased her just slightly. He hadn't exactly fulfilled the duty he'd been brought here for. The one related to this solstice situation...which made him feel even worse about it. Lady Vernique had turned down his offer of resignation, he hadn't wanted to leave but after a failure like that, he had to offer it. She deserved the option of choosing someone else to fulfill this duty.

	"Nay," she argued. "How canst I giveth hope to others when I hath none mineself." She stayed close to Brandr. The warmth and support he offered was just what Svalin needed. The nightmares were horrible and almost too much for her to bear. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"Thou wilt find it. Titles such as those are not given without reason behind them. If thou ist and shalt be the Goddess of Hope, then it ist thine fate to one day hath some and spread it," he reassured with a more somber expression, and believed every word he said. "That ye doth not have it just now doth not mean it shall ne'er come."

He leaned his head against hers, keeping his voice in low soothing tones as he spoke into her hair. "And it ist mine duty to take some of thine worries away so ye may focus on the rest." Though he felt guilty saying that one, especially since he hadn't lived up to that duty just recently despite his best efforts. Failure had not come to him before like this, but if the Ladies kept him on then he wanted that chance to show he could fulfill his own duties.

	It wasn't exactly where he saw things going when he'd first heard her scream, but this was marked improvement, and one he liked. His own hand tangled in her hair as they kissed and he had to say he didn't quite want it to end. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	He'd point out that he had no reason to pull away, and why would he right now? But he of course wouldn't break anything off to voice those thoughts. And while mixing duty and pleasure was rather new to him, demanding kisses were not, and he reciprocated in kind. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)
