Hayes looked ready to deliver a new order when he was suddenly taken into the air. He cursed vehemently, but then his arm opened, tentacles shooting out to constrict his attacker.
The creatures were sent down by Rachel and Shane's attacks. However, instead of immediately rising to their feet, they seemed to look confused. They began to look around as if they were seeing for the first time. When they saw themselves and each other, they began to shriek, some falling prone on the ground while others began randomly destroying any object they could get their hands on.
The soldiers realized their initial attacks weren't working on Vlad so they began to switch their ammunition cartridges. "This guy's not going down. Forget what the doc said, phosphorus rounds, now!" When the order was given a new burst of toxic rounds were fired at the X-Men.
