The Battle of the Pyrenees
Derek was glad that with Atlas the way it was it was easy to get in and out of nations the way it was. Just a few hours previous (well, more than that, but not by much), they had been in New York City, deciphering something from medieval French in order to find the location of a sword thought to be lost for eternity. And now they were powering their way through Spain, heading just a few miles south of the Breach of Roland itself.

It was really spooky just how close to history they got here. And now they were searching for something even more important historically.

"Hey, Dole, about where on the map was the location again?"

"She broke the laws... she broke the sacred laws of my King!" He yelled at Derek, before grasping his head and backing away some. He was in service to the Khan, now. His King was long dead... his time was gone. Society had new rules, new rulers. There were so many emotions running through him, just like at the museum. Everything he was holding back was trying to break through again.

Falling to his knees, Dolemeck just looked at the two. A somewhat emotionless, blank look on his face now showed. His eyes also reverted back to their green color as he spoke softly.

"Aye, Khan. I understand."

"Khan? What do the Mongols have anything to do with the, oh to hell with this!"

There is a shove against Derek, one that barely registers to the strong Atlantean...but it's enough for her to get her arm out and gesture, resulting in a flash of light, a stumbling Derek, and empty air where Phyffe used to be.

"Damn it!"

The flash and the empty air leaves Derek out of balance, and he places a hand down on a crypt to steady himself.

The crypt, however, decides not to comply and the lid moves, to reveal a glittering sword underneath it's heavy stone covering.

"Holy crap...Dole...is this what i think it is?"

"Aye, Khan, it is." He spoke in a dead tone, finally standing up with his shoulders slumped over a bit. "That is Roland's blade. You can do with it as you please, as you are Khan. Toss it into the grotto to be lost forever like the blade that woman held, bring it to a museum like the Louvre or MET, give it to Atlas to watch over, I do not care. I have no say in the matter. It is all up to you, future Khan."

"Dolemeck, I'm sorry I had to pull the Khan on you, but you were about to murder her. She had lost. I had her. And you were about to stick her in the gut. I had to do something..."

Derek looks from the sword to Dolemeck.

"And you do have a say in the matter. As the Khans Knight, you are the one who I trust in matters of swords and honor. This will be for you to decide."

"They deserved to die. People like that... deserve it." He muttered under his breath before turning back to Derek. "If you want my advice, that sword should be lost to time. It's owner is long dead, and I believe it just wants to rest. But we do not have such a luxury, do we? Take it and have it guarded with the rest of Atlas. I... need to tend to my wounds..."

"We'll get your wounds taken care of. As for the sword..."

Derek picks up the sword with care, looking incredibly awkward holding the weapon.

"We'll have to find some way of storing it. The song of power will be really strong. We also should deal with that."

Derek motions to Precieuse.

Shaking his head, Dolemeck headed into the grotto. He could not swim what so ever, but he was tall, and he could easily get the sword without drowning in it's refreshing looking waters.

There was some red about the water as he sunk in a bit to grasp the sword, only to pop up screaming in pain as he grasped Precieuse. It hurt him to hold the blade because of it's magical properties, but he did not want Derek to get even touch this blade!

If it made that woman into some sort of mind controlled swordswoman, he did not wish to see what it could do to Derek. He was cringing quite a bit, more blood dripping from his hand.

"I suggest we hurry... this pain is a bit much for me."

"Got it," Derek said, putting his hand in his pocket and touching a slim bit of metal. It signaled the plane to swing around and land. They should set down by the time Derek and Dolemeck get back up to the surface.

"The plane'll be here shortly. They'll get you patched up until we get you to a proper hospital.

Dolemeck said nothing. Absolutely nothing as they waited for their plane to land. His arm felt like it was on fire, as did the slash wounds to his arm, face, and back. But he did his very best to not show any pain. But inside, he was screaming in agony and full of anger, hate, and just feeling so alone. Was this the sword making him feel such things, or was this how he truly felt knowing the truth of his past?
