"Deflating her rhetoric and disputing her claims in the public arena is part of stopping her. I think it was absolutely the right move - especially if we use our position here to help share the records with international security forces, let them double check and verify the information, and then let them take the credit for discovering her name.
If we leak this, people will assume we're covering ourselves - correctly. But that doesn't mean our hands are tied. So thank you for giving us some ammunition.
Because, yes, due to similarities with past acts, people will believe we had something to do with it. And I'd rather give them the chance to take their stance - and then have a neutral party 'break the case' and prove them wrong. It will never change some people's minds... but people don't like being proven wrong. A few will think a little more about making accusations next time.
