Darkest Night
Derek and Dolemeck managed to get out of France before Venus and Bob had arrived to check on their adopted son, and before that insane woman from the Louvre made it to New York City, it appeared. Dolemeck was in awe at the sheer size of the museum before him. Never had he felt so small before! Now that he was properly dressed in a white dress shirt, black slacks, black work boots, and a black vest, Dolemeck looked over at Derek with a raised eyebrow.

"Do we just march in, or do we have to buy tickets, first? I doubt they will take us seriously if we tell them that a crazed woman is after a priceless artifact."

The sword was never his. It was made many years after he was sent to limbo... but it looked like the one he used to have. With much reluctance, he gave it back to Derek.

Dolemeck knew that Derek was the voice of reason at this moment. He wanted to curl up in a ball somewhere, but there was a mad woman on the lose they had to deal with. he had to put his self pity and pain aside, and become the hero he always wanted. The hero he once was.

After handing over the sword, Dolemeck got up and headed for his walk in closet, slamming the door shut as he entered it. If they were going to go out into battle, he would need something more suitable to wear.

Derek holds the sword as gingerly as he can. He didn't like to see his cousin this upset at anything, and he needed to find something, anything, to get his head on straight, at least for the moment.

Derek waits for him, and whenever he is done, Derek just listens for the creaking of the door. Without looking at Dolemeck, he just holds the sword and says a few simple words.

"I know it doesn't feel like it right now, but you're doing the right thing."

"Aye..." Dolemeck finally came out of the closet, dressed in a pair of black combat boots, leather pants, a belt, a white linen shirt, and a black trench coat. His lips were a thin line as he stepped over the books that were thrown all over the place. His hands went to his long black hair, braiding the sides of it, and then tying those braids into a ponytail behind his head.

"Where to, now?"

"It looked like Crazy Lady was going after a manuscript. I'd say we return the sword here, and Very Nicely ask to see what it says."

Very Nicely will probably mean a several million dollar grant for the museum, but it would be worth it.

He nodded his head, slipping a pair of black gloves on his hands. He continued to step through the mess of his apartment until he got to the front door and opened it for Derek, allowing him to exit first. He said nothing about the mess as the two made their way back to the museum.

The entire time, Dolemeck was silent.. or just distant from Derek. Once the two made it back to the MET, and managed to get not only the guards to let Dolemeck back in, but get them access to the book. Well, access to the book in a secure area of the museum, reserved for examinations of artifacts and preservation of them.

"You cannot read it" He told Derek in a matter of fact tone. His gloved hands carefully moved over the book, gingerly flipping the pages as he gave Derek a reason as to why he could not read it. "It is in French. You had enough trouble at the Louvre trying to find the bathroom. Though it was humorous when you walked into the girl's bathroom..."

"You would think that Spanish would be more helpful, but nooooooo French itself has to be difficult," Derek mutters just loudly enough for Dolemeck to know.

"And that wasn't my fault! I had to go and was in a rush!"

"I am sure the maidens were thrilled to see you." He grinned a bit, flipping the book to another page. "So thrilled, they were beating you with their purses and calling you names no lady should ever speak. But fear not, you are not the only one that has happened to. I was in search of my mentor, Lord Gawain, and had to walk into a whore house to get him. I went into the wrong room and was pelted by some fresh fruit. Lord Gawain thought the event humorous, enough that he offered to buy me my first... experience with a woman to make up for the trouble I had gone through. I however refused his offer and simply vowed to be more careful of where I search for him."

"Then it's a really good thing I'm not of age...and that I don't know French," Derek half-muttered in response to Dolemeck. "Do you have it translated yet?"

There will be bored pacing.

"It is also really good that you did not have a mentor who was known more for his women than his sword... and who was so drunk on mead that he forgot you were just a boy when making such an offer." Dolemeck muttered as he continued flipping through the pages. "Also, I am not a computer at Atlas, I am somewhat human and translation takes time. Patience is a virtue, Derek."

"Yeesh. That sounds down-right embarrassing."

Derek then thinks about what was just said.

"Computers also don't tend to steal priceless swords from museums, too, but I suppose I'll have to deal."

This was said with gentle prodding.

"Do not anger me, Derek. It is taking everything within my power to not have another break down. I am still hurting in ways you can only imagine." Dolemeck spoke in a matter of fact tone as he finally closed the book up and placed it back in the display. "We need to head to Spain. The last sword will be found there."

Derek frowns a bit. He didn't mean that at all, but it just came out more flippant than he intended.

"I-I'm sorry, man. I didn't mean it like that. I'm just-"

He would have continued rambling, but he heard where they needed to be.

"Okay. Good. And we have the advantage. We need to get going."

"Aye, that we must." Dolemeck spoke quietly, walking out of the room before Derek. He was unsure of how to feel right now. His main focus was to stop that women, save the sword... and then what? Probably find a dark space to curl up in for a few days.

"I hate Spain." He muttered under his breath as he continued to walk.
