Looking For Trouble (open to Champions)
Vincent strolled down the streets of New Orleans. It had been years since he'd been in the city. Sure, all the super teams had done their part in helping with recovery efforts, but he'd never seen the city as unspoiled as now. Hm. City. It didn't seem like the right word. It was more like a town that just stretched on and on. It was charming, that way. Food, alcohol, and people. Even without demigod senses anymore the air was rich with smells; it didn't smell badly, just enormously. And there was music. Music just about everywhere. It was a nice place to take it easy.

Of course, he wasn't there to take it easy. He'd picked up the trail of something during one of his meditations, headed from New York towards this city. Nothing so heavy on the mystical scale of things that he felt like he needed to alert Strange or Mistress Jennifer, or sound an alert, but just... something there. He'd grabbed his general gear and followed in pursuit of it. He hadn't been out in the field on his own enough lately, so a tracking expedition was certainly something he could use. Honestly, he was glad for the diversion. He'd been feeling stagnant as of late. Sure, school was progressing nicely, and he was even starting to make peace with his duties as the heir to Latveria, but he'd still been unable to shake the feeling that he was still just following a course someone else had set out for him.

Maybe... maybe it was time for something else.

His introspection is halted by a string of shrill squeals from a nearby bar with a 'Ladies Night' banner over the door. A bit off the pitch he'd expect for just drunken partying. Harmless but ridiculously bright bolts of green and blue light start hurtling out the windows and swinging front doors. He set his jaw and ran for the door, only to get bowled over by a sudden tide of humanity pouring out from it. He was completely blindsided, and ended up knocked on his rear. He caught site of the people fleeing. Each of them had something changed in their eyes. One green, one blue, devoid of any features. The partiers started going mad up and down the street. Senseless damage, tearing of clothes, and all manner of singing and screaming. Not malicious, but overwhelmingly vast, and spreading.

"...Oh Hel..." He knew what it was now, and he was going to need backup to contain them all.

"Yeah what did happen," Eric asks hoping he might be able to use this to get out of cleaning if he could.

"What do you need and where do you want it from?"

"What?" Vincent coughs, still regaining his breath as he staggers to his feet. Argo will pay. "No!" He tries taking a few deep breaths. "I was tracking a magical disturbance headed this way. Turned out to be some magically tainted ecstasy." He puts his hands at the small of his back and leans backwards to stretch. "Not damaging on its own, but it basically amplifies energy levels and massively turns down restraint. Just a lot of sex and violence, and among the already chemically-altered or weaker-willed, it spreads by contact. I helped out GRAMPA in an operation taking out the source back in Manhattan, but apparently some still got out."

"Some Tony's and some bay leaves that haven't been ground into the sidewalk would be great. And ugh. Tained Ecstasy. Guess it could've been worse."

"Okay. I'm off to California and then the corner market. Call me if you need anything else."

Irina formed a portal and stepped through.

"So the first magically tainted ecstasy outbreak after you and your grandpa took out a source 2000 miles away just happened to land here? That's some coincidence. Seriously, who are you?"

Vincent was about to ask something about one lady's portals, when the other one starts speaking up. His jaw falls open slightly. "Are... are you seriously accusing me of being behind this? You should be thankful I was able to keep the outbreak from getting any worse than it was! It's kind of hard to account for every single tablet some stupid bunch of party-goers might have had on them..." He gestures to himself incredulously. "You really don't recognize me?

And no, not my grandfather. G-R-A-M-P-A. The Global Reaction Agency for Mysterious Paranormal Activity."

Corey, as it happens, does recognize him, but was too preoccupied to mention it, and at his reaction...

"...Is it that hard to just introduce yourself? You don't recognize her, after all."

Vincent flinches again, then slumps, sighs, and nods. "I'm sorry... I'm just very very tired right now..." He straightens up again and extends a hand to the lady. "I'm Vincent Vernard, of the Future Foundation."

Jenny shook his hand politely. "Jenny Woolverton." She gave her name in a cool voice, not at all pleased with the young man's behavior. Vincent's reaction to her logical assumption of the situation was rather telling.

"Aside from the silly name, wouldn't you expect an agency like GRAMPA to account for every single tablet if the risk is that high?"

Argo was oblivious to any personality clashes brewing around him.

"Foul poisoners! Utterly without honor! Tell me we have seen the last of this!"

"It's... it's not always that simple." He gathers his thoughts. "Magic isn't like radiation or other volatile materials, that can have a predictable decay rate. It can be dormant, and the same as any other inert material, for unknown amounts of time. The tablets that made it down here probably weren't... 'hot' for lack of a better term, when the operation proceeded. I only picked them up myself by chance recently, and thought to investigate, and even then the magical signature wasn't distinct enough to identify it until I saw the effects."

He looks around those assembled. "Is anyone on your team familiar with the mystic arts?"

Corey shrugs. "Have a few friends in the field, but it's not my area of study, no. Nick's a pretty good occultist, but that's another, deeply disturbing kettle of fish." He heads distractedly towards the kitchen. "He's not here, but he'll be home for supper if you need him to explain something."

"No... that's quite alright." Occultism and high mysticism were like comparing advanced engineering and particle physics. There was some overlap, and both required a good deal of study, but they just weren't the same thing.

Vincent licks his lips as he composes his next question in his head.

"Would you be interested in having a practitioner on hand?"
