The Battle of Olympus
The trail eventually led the Avengers, Future Foundation and the Defenders to the other dimensional realm that served as the home of the Greek gods. They traveled to a few realms that were home to other gods only to find them destroyed and in ruins. Olympus wasn't in ruins, but it was under attack. Battle raged all around and the skies thundered and were lit up by lightning bolts.

"In games of deception, Olympian," Asleif said, "I hath no equal."

She raised a hand and a light flashed from within her, leaving dozens of Asleif's when it faded.

Pluto didn't care if there was one or a hundred. He would go through each one if he had to. He went toward the spot he had last seen her and took a swing with his axe.

Buck waits until the two are heavily engaged, since Pluto could well kill him with a single strike if accurate enough. When both disappear, he tosses a couple of smoke bombs once his gas mask is in place, and sweeps with his goggles, looking for the roughly Pluto-sized hole in the smoke.

Asleif suppressed a frown of annoyance. She needed no help. But if this mortal proved a distraction to Pluto, so much the better for it.

The Asleif that Pluto stroke dissipated into smoke, while others raised their hands and fired upon him.

Only one shot hit his shields and he could tell where it came from. He headed in that direction.

Now able to tell where Pluto was via the movement in the smoke, even if the god seems perfectly able to navigate in it, Buck leaps for his back, trying to wrench away the helm of invisibility before he gets too much chance to react.

Asleif dissolved into an unkindness of ravens, filling the air with wings and going in too many directions to track any individual one.

Pluto was surprised when someone jumped on his back. He could feel the person trying to wrestle the helm off of his head. He brought an axe up and shoved the handle back, trying to smash the person with it.

Buck manages to just take a glancing blow from the handle, rolling out of the way. His presence should still help mark where Pluto is for their own goddess, and he has him distracted. He's still working on getting the helm off, since that would be an even bigger help, but the attempts to dislodge him make that a lot harder.

Still, its at least some teamwork, whether Aslief wants it or not.

The ravens gathered and removed back into Asleif. The mortal did make for a rather useful distraction, she had to admit.

She was also one of the most powerful magic users in Asgard. Below Odin, Loki, Amora, and Karnilla, certainly... but young yet.

But she would be thrice-damned if she would yield to an Olympian. She too, like her more warrior siblings, had her pride.

She reached out with her magics and fired a bolt of power, not at Pluto, but at the ground beneath him, transforming it from earth to molten metal.

He smashed at the guy on his back with the handle of his axe, but in the process his helm was ripped off. He began to sink into the ground, the heat hurting him a bit.

He sent a bolt of magical energies at Asleif.

Buck avoids having any bones broken by rolling with the impact, but not by much. That's going to be a deep muscle bruise, at the least. Still, Buck has the helm.

Tucking it under the arm with the bad shoulder, he flings a couple flashbangs towards Pluto's face. They won't hurt him, but amidst all the darkness, he's hoping to blind the God to help set Aslief up better.

Asleif threw up another magical shield, but this one cracked and shattered, the blast against it slowed but not stopped.

The bolt struck her and knocked her pack, but she bit down on her lip and did not cry out.

"Thou shalt pay for that, cur!"

She threw crackling blasts of magic at him.

Pluto can't see, but he felt Asleif's blast hit his shields. They were weakening, but for now they held.

He wildly sent out blasts of magical energies in different directions since he really couldn't see.

Buck just barely activates the energy shield in time to catch one blast, and dodges another. Too close - and even the one took his shield down 20 percent power.

He tosses a couple of knockout grenades. He's positive it won't remotely knock Pluto out, but every little bit helps, and he still seems to be breathing. If he can slow the guy, it can only help Aslief.

Asleif threw more hastily formed shields up, blocking the shots, and enduring what she could not block. She would not show pain. She would not falter. She would stand be and counted.

She fired what blasts she could in return.

The knockout grenades didn't knock Pluto out, but they did help confuse him a bit. His shields absorbed the blast. His vision was starting to return and he sent a blast toward Asleif.

Confusion is good. Very good. After the knockout gas, Buck starts throwing the kitchen sink at him.

Acid diamonds, screamers to deafen and disorient with an attack on the middle ear, plasma grenades. He knows his arsenal doesn't pack the raw punch of the goddess - but every bit helps, and if he can help keep Pluto off balance, or draw his attention away from her, it buys Aslief time.

The blast hit Asleif, breaking through her shield, and knocking her to her knees.

It also broke her concentration, snapping the spell that had turned the ground into molten metal. Of course, what it turned back into was solid ground. With Pluto still within it.

Pluto teleported himself out of there and back to Hades. A strategic retreat was better than a defeat. They had been so close to overthrowing Zeus and the other Olympians.

For a moment, Buck considers limping over to Aslief and checking if she's ok. Then he remembers, Aslief. No offer of help, no hand up - instead, he offers her Pluto's helm of invisibility.

"The Asgardians can probably offer this to the Olympians to help re-settle things. Then they can decide what to do with it."

And are better suited to handle any demands for it that might come from Olympus than the Avengers are. Until then, it can be her trophy to hand over.

Asleif took it with a small nod, once she was back on her feet.

"This battle wilt not be won with strength of arms alone," she said, thinking aloud. "Else must be done..."

She vanished, teleporting away.
