Discussion on Life, Love, and 'you just had to be there...'
Lunch had been something, all right. Misha was glad Anya hadn't been there to see it, but he knew he wouldn't get away with not telling her about it. All their lives they'd joked about That Murdock Guy. It wasn't so funny now.

He managed to get back to his place before his phone started ringing. Thank God the ringtone wasn't 'It's Raining Men' this time. There was probably GPS locator in it so Brat would know where he was likely to be alone and she could get the scoop on things.

"Hey, how did your finals go?"

Anya had always been the more pragmatic of them. Trust her to find a way to express it. He smiled at her and poured her a third shot. "You're probably right. I'm going to avoid that whole great love thing because it looks a lot more miserable than it sounds."

"You think Eliza's taking this all a little too well?"

"I don't think it's something you can avoid. I think it just happens." There had been plenty examples of it around her when she was growing up. Uncle Steve and Aunt Sharon. Uncle Hank and Aunt Jan. Even Scott and Jean.

"No. I think she's hiding her issues well. It is a family trait after all."

"Mom invited Jack to come by the Avengers any time. You should've seen her not wince when he called her Mrs. Stark. He's seems okay. Just way out of the hero loop."

He took a bite of his sandwich and silence filled the kitchen as they finished their sandwiches. He got a bag of chips from the cupboard and opened it between them. He poured himself one more shot of vodka, then pushed the bottle in Anya's direction.

"Maybe what we could do is invite them all over for an evening just to get to know each other."

Anya chuckled. "Funny thing is she didn't want to be known as Mrs. Stark and people are calling her that anyway." Oh yes, she was amused.

Deadpan. "You want to invite Jack and Murdock over for dinner one night?" One of our family dinners?" Anya quickly downed a shot of vodka.

"If she doesn't want to be known as Mrs. Stark, she shouldn't have married a Mr. Stark." Misha was amused himself. The woman would probably have a breakdown when the first grandkid arrived and people started referring to her as Grandma.

"I was thinking of something a little more informal, but that sounds good too. Let's invite Jack and his dad to dinner with you and your dad, and me and my dad, and Mom and James and Eliza!" He rolled his eyes at her. "Brat. Jack, Eliza, you, me, James, here. Dinner one night soon. Take out so no one has to be nice about anybody else's cooking. We can talk. Watch movies. Make fun of our parents. The usual kid party stuff."

She breathed a sigh of relief. "That sounds good actually. Probably safest way to do it."

A pause.

"You should invite David too. He's family."

He nodded. "And David. I mean, let's face it. No matter what the parents decide, we'll be the ones living with it. We might as well be proactive about it. Who knows? Between the six of us, we might just have a workable team."

Anya nodded. "Yeah. No matter what they do, we're all stuck with each other. I mean look at me. I've been trying to get rid of you for years."

Anya giggled. The vodka was starting to make her a little tipsy. "She's a thousand times better than the brother I have to put up with."

"Don't say that! You'll curse us with that Herc Romanov kid and it'll be a sister." He grinned and put the vodka back in the freezer

"Then we'll have that team of Romanovs you were joking about," she grumbled. "I don't know about you, but I think I've hit my quota of siblings for a lifetime."

"What I don't get is that they show up, Mom takes them in, and we're still on the hook for the who royal thing. Well, you have to live with them. I just see them at family dinners, and when Mom lets me know she's making blinis for breakfast."

"We're on the hook because we're the ones who were lucky enough to be born in this dimension," she said before taking the last bite of her sandwich.

"They're not so bad to live with. Though there have been some fierce arguments between James and me over the living room television and over the shower some mornings. I imagine it's only going to get worse." Her mouth was full, but this was Misha and some manners could be ignored.

Misha laughed. "At least he's gets his head out of the video games long enough to argue." It was amusing! He had three bathrooms to choose from, and Brat had to fight with James over hers.

"Yeah. If worse comes to worse, one of them can always move in with me."

"You're imagining it," she said as she swatted at his hand. "I will take you up on that. Dad says I have to do normal teenage stuff. He's not going to let me work this fall because I have to do other stuff."

"The codes are the same, front door and terrace. Help yourself if I'm not around." The hand swat was like the buzzing of flies to Vigo. "Not working, huh? You are going to go Stark raving crazy. I get a front row seat. Life is sweet."

"Change the codes all you want," she said. "I can always get in without S.H.I.E.L.D. showing up." She grinned.

"I know! That's what I told him! He still insisted I have to do "normal" teen stuff. I want to work and he wants me to go play. Talk about being cruel!"

"Yeah, yeah, Ms. Nanite 2009."

"You are doing normal teen stuff, as far as teens 'in the life' go. But hey, he's your dad. Make him suffer. He should be supervising you doing normal teen stuff."
