At the still point of destruction, at the center of the fury
Charles Xavier, head of the Xavier Institute of Higher Learning and mentor of the X-Men, had been busy in the recent days. Together with an old friend, Erik Lehnsherr, the two of them pushed the anti-human groups into action. Attacks on humans started happening all around New York City.

In Times Square the MLF appeared and started attacking the sea of people in the "Crossroads of the World". They also targeted the nearby Police and fire stations to hinder efforts to control the chaos they were creating.

Down on Wall Street the Brotherhood started attacking the bankers and investment brokers.

Leading the attacks on humans were Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr.

Mutants attacking humans prompted responses from anti-mutant groups such as the Friends of Humanity, the Church of Purity and other pro-human groups.

The streets of New York quickly became a battleground between humans and mutants.

	These sentinels weren't the run of the mill sentinels. These were equipped with force fields. The boulder bounced off the field and landed on a bus. Starbridge would find himself running into an invisible barrier. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"Okay...that's new." Good thing the bus had been empty. Well, might as well try something else. The thing had to put its force fields down at some point. Perhaps when it tried for a physical attack. No harm in trying. Well...no harm to him.

"Hey! Down here! Yes, you! Thought you were good at that mutant finding thing! Weren't you going to at least try to catch me?" Vlad yells and waves his hands at the sentinel while running in close to find the limit of the force field. Better the attention be on him than Starbridge, one of them could take a beating better.

	The sentinel tracked Vlad and fired an energy blast. It didn't see Starbridge and took damage to his left leg. It brought its left hand back and shot a blast a Starbridge. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	What Starbridge lacked in not-being-sheltered, he made up for in more acrobatic training, flipping backwards to dodge the blast, though he could feel the edge of the searing heat as he did so. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

The blast hits Vlad nearly straight on and sends him flying back into the bus from before, leaving a good sized dent. But he'd expected that. In fact he was hoping it would start this way. Be a distraction to get Starbridge some chances all while letting the thing rip his skin. The blast had done that job well, the metal layer was clearly visible on most of his top half and bit here and there on the rest of him.

Good. That was a nice strength boost.

"You okay Starbridge? Just keep it up!" He calls out as he does another running leap to land on top of a building not too far from the Sentinel to try and get it's attention again. "Terminate this way!"

When he saw the ice spears, Vlad momentarily thought it was another mutant and turns to both be disappointed and confused by the guy on the ice slide. "Starbridge...did I miss a memo or something?" Because this was weird. Well, don't look a gift horse in the mouth, better the sentinel aiming at the Brotherhood guy than Starbridge.

So while the sentinel's focus is on Coldsnap, Vlad leaps at its face and puts his full power into a punch into its face plate.

	Of course he can't stay on the faceplate forever, so Vlad jumps up to grab onto a bit of one of the sentinel's weird hat things, at least that's how he'd always thought of them, and swings a bit to send a powerful double kick at the ice spear embedded in one of the thing's eyes and drive it further in. Perfect. Now to do something about this thing's balance. Good thing Starbridge was getting to a safe distance.

Letting go of his grip on the helmeted bit, Vlad drops down to the Sentinels leg and moves so that he's in a good position to lay into the Sentinel's knee. It's a Sentinel, that means he doesn't need to hold back and just focus on creating enough damage that this leg won't be able to hold its weight much longer.

"Timber!"
