At the still point of destruction, at the center of the fury
Charles Xavier, head of the Xavier Institute of Higher Learning and mentor of the X-Men, had been busy in the recent days. Together with an old friend, Erik Lehnsherr, the two of them pushed the anti-human groups into action. Attacks on humans started happening all around New York City.

In Times Square the MLF appeared and started attacking the sea of people in the "Crossroads of the World". They also targeted the nearby Police and fire stations to hinder efforts to control the chaos they were creating.

Down on Wall Street the Brotherhood started attacking the bankers and investment brokers.

Leading the attacks on humans were Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr.

Mutants attacking humans prompted responses from anti-mutant groups such as the Friends of Humanity, the Church of Purity and other pro-human groups.

The streets of New York quickly became a battleground between humans and mutants.

One of Rachel's responsibilities these days was, once or twice a week, to employ Cerebra and record anything of any particular note. Her father or the Professor would then, based on the results, make decisions for what else to do with them.

Unfortunately, today's Cerebra scans revealed a concentration of mutant power in New York on an unprecedented scale.

"This... this has to be a mistake."

She checked the Mansion grounds. She extended her psionic scans further, looking for anything, desperately trying to prove herself wrong.

She reached out with her mind, touching the other members of the field team. We need to mobilize. Now.

	It was one of the few times Misha was caught watching the news outside of baseball season. Rachel's contact came at the moment the news camera showed a familiar face. "No fucking way," he breathed, a /very/ rare expletive escaping him. "On my way!" he yelled, running for the stairs. He needed to get his suit and into the air immediately. This is an Xaiver Protocol Condition Omega event, people. Multiple acts of mutant terrorism, anti-mutant terrorism, Magneto returning to villainy, and the Professor being corrupted by either outside forces or his own suppressed evil.

Yes, she'd read the manual on various Protocols for various events. Who hadn't?

Granted, I don't think it expected all those things to happen at once...
