Getting lost, getting found, getting born again each day...
As a reward for being a good little mutant and submitting to Xavier's psychic help and Dad's daily work outs, Misha was allowed to mingle with the student body. No sparring, no teaching, no weapons training, but by God he could now talk to them without the fear of hurting somebody. They still couldn't tell him what would trigger an attack other than the obvious Romanov one, but since Mom wasn't around and as far as he knew Anya, James and Eliza were still in SHIELD custody, that didn't appear to be a problem.

It was a nice afternoon, so he pulled Dad's jeep out of the garage to wash it. Darlene was still in his parking spot in the city and from the messages left on his phone, not happy she wasn't getting more air time.

"Ha ha, lucky you." He finishes the dash and gets out of the front seat. "I was about your age when Dad got me an account at the local pizza place. I ate there nearly every day after school. Of course, I went to school in the village and not here..."

David rolls his eyes. "I at least try cooking on occasion. Key word: try. For some reason it always tastes a little off."
He frowns and shakes his head as he cleans.

"Though I will never make the mistake of eating food Eliza claims is safe. I can see why there is a cooking ban on her and Anya."

"Yeah, don't eat anything that side of the family makes. I don't get why they're incapable of cooking, but there's probably a good reason for it."

He began rolling up the hose. "Although I can't see one. I think they do it on purpose."

"It's possible they like watching men cook," David offers up that idea. Then makes a face because that is not a thing he needs to think about with Aunt Tasha, she earned that title by being cool, and his sort of sisters watching guys cooking.

Nobody needs to be thinking that about Mom and the little sisters!

"I'm sure they like to be waited on. Did Dad tell you what's going on with them right now?"

Exactly it hurts his brain.

"Yeah," he pulls a face looking very unhappy. People need to stop doing stupid things to his family.

Change of subject? Maybe not right away.

"They're going to be okay." He said it, but he wasn't sure he believed it. "We stick together, we'll always be okay."

"I just worry since we can't do anything," David admits. It was annoying and he hated that helpless feeling.

Now a subject change, "So someone sent me cookies."

Don't be vague David it only makes people demand more information.

"Oh yeah?" David had a girlfriend? "Who?"

He would like to Misha.

"Mel. I'm not sure you remember her," David replies. But David is smiling a little because frankly, who wouldn't if a cute girl sent them baked goods?

"Mel?" He racked what little remained of his brain and couldn't remember a student named Mel. "Remind me, who is she?"

"Purple girl. She's with the new Alpha Flight," David reminds him and blinks. "Oh yeah. She sent a note too She hopes you're okay."

Nice girl.

Purple girl. Misha remembered a snake, a beagle and a dragon, fighting Nicholas and killing Tessa. Not much of anything else was left. It could've been the drugs or the tranquilizer, or Xavier.

"And she sent you cookies? That's pretty sweet of her."

"She was nice," David agrees. Also cute. He spent enough time near her to decide that. "I should send a note back or something."

Because it seemed like the nice thing to do. He also wasn't ready for phone calls with girls yet.

"Flowers," Misha said with a nod. "But I don't suppose they have an address that will take a florist delivery. At least a card, and put your cell phone number on it too."

"If they did I'd send flowers," David agrees. "But I can't be sure of that."

Now he blinks at Misha. Why his cell phone number? Oh yeah. For talking to the pretty girl. Duh David. "This only proves my lack of experience with girls but for a moment I blanked out on why I'd send her my number."

"You will require much work, Grasshopper," Misha said very patiently, "but in the end you will speak confidently with all sorts of pretty girls."

David chuckles a little. "My problem is not wanting to come off as a dweeb."

"Well, you are in your dweeb years. A lot of girls think it's cute." He shook his head. A little brother was a lot more fun than a puppy sometimes.

He looks a little pleased for a moment. Girls thinking something is cute is great, right? "Either way I'll grow out of it and into something that fits better."
