"//What?//" she looks at him like he's lost his head, even as she's picking up the reciever. "//You know James? He's never mentioned you.//"
She dials James's cell phone number anyway... and gets a 'this number has been dissconnected' message.
"//What? Changed his number? But I texted him two days ago!//" Emily frowns, trying to think of who else to call. She tries her mother and gets another disconnected number, tries her father at work and gets a pizza place, then his cell and gets a confused old lady with cats meowing in the background.
"//...I... can't reach anyone. I... maybe I'll try Mrs. Stark...//"
