Feliz Cumpleanos, Fred!
Sylvie had not kept her cousin's birthday a secret, but she'd asked everyone not to make enough fuss to scare him.

No stranger to specially tailored pants, Sylvie left him a new pair and translations of some of the latest genetics research out of Europe.

Cait made a batch of Fred's favorite cookies and left them in a basket outside of his door.

Fred was a new guy to him, but all the same it was a birthday and at the very least the guy needed a present. So he'd added a bookstore gift card to the present pile outside his lab.
