Alex, resurfacing again, felt it hit him as well as his mentat abilities dimmed. Like always, he couldn't remember what he'd done in his trance-like state, but he'd trained himself to react quickly.
Being too close to shoot safely, he promptly pistol-whips the Man-Beast between the eyes, fighting through the pain.
