Into the Maw of the Beast
It had all been perfect. When he was left on this world in a near-death coma, he remained on this world for years. Then one day the first war between the two planets' native species caused his awakening. Still weak, he secretly pitted the two peoples against each other in order to feed off their hatred and regain his strength. It had been going so well. He killed and replaced the Rorian leader, Varas, in order to directly oversea the finl stages of his plan. However, fate seemed to have a twisted sense of humor. The Guardians of the Galaxy had been contacted to mediate the dispute, and had forced him to reveal himself..but it didn't matter now. He was at full strength..and he would kill them all.

He summoned power from the depths of his own mind in an attempt to unleash a psionic burst powerful enough to lobotomize all sentients save himself.

Iason leaps at the villain. He's still hurt and recovering from the collision with the shield - but when he feels the psychic build up... he may be possibly the worst Eternal in the universe at use of psychic potential, but he is at least sensitive to it - he tries to throw himself into the way and take the brunt of everything he can.

He's certainly not immune, especially on that scale, but whatever happens to him, he'll recover eventually as long as the Guardians win.

The Son of the Madonna is in his element. He does not fight against the onslaught so much as he lets himself go adrift in it. Navigates it like a raging river. As his more offensively capable teammates rain down attacks, he manages to slip in and touch a finger to the Man-Beast's head.

"Mind your mind, savage one."

It's not an attack, strictly speaking. He simply lets the Man-Beast feel what it does not already. Empathy for all that lives around it. He's already fattened himself on the flames of their hatred, fanning them himself, but now he will feel their love, their hope, and all of their sorrow.

It should be quite a lot to digest.

Iason took the brunt of the attack. Several Rorians and Merai fell, but it was not the fatal strike Man-Beast had intended. He saw Alex coming, but Azura's attack forced him to concentrate on defense. And then Alex's finger touched him...

And came in a flood.He could feel the flood of additional emotions. He snarled in both anger and confusion, hands going to his head as if it could force the unwanted feelings out.

	Alex, resurfacing again, felt it hit him as well as his mentat abilities dimmed. Like always, he couldn't remember what he'd done in his trance-like state, but he'd trained himself to react quickly. Being too close to shoot safely, he promptly pistol-whips the Man-Beast between the eyes, fighting through the pain. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	If Man-Beast hadn't been fighting the effects of the empathetic attack Alex had unleashed on him, he might have seen the strike coming. The blow rocked the Man-Beast's head back. Man-Beast had tried putting up another psionic barrier against the onslaught. Red and Eliza's attacks weakened it enough for Azura's attack to destroy it completely. This left him open for Alex's attacks. The blows drove the breath from his lungs. His vision blurred as he tried to stay conscious.

"Not..again," he growled defiantly before falling face-first to the ground.

Alex, still riding the adrenaline high, whips off his helmet and tries to catch his breath. Observing her kicking their foe while he was down inspires him to take two steps to Azura and kiss her before wheeling about to face the Merai and Rorians.

"Would anyone ELSE like to object to the terms we laid out?!" He thunders, gun still clenched pistol-whip style in one hand, as he gestures at the fallen Man-Beast with the other.

	Its not often that Iason looks awkward or truly injured, but at the moment, he's struggling a bit to get to his feet. Nonetheless, he's tapping what ambient energy he can to work on his regenerative processes. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Alex says nothing. He just hefts the Man-Beast over one shoulder. Okay, he signals Groot to pick up the Man-Beast. "Ride. We're going home."
