Marlow sighed. "If I try to override the spell it will stop working. We need it to work. But it's all right. If we're in real danger it will go as fast as we need it to so we get out of danger. Being hungry isn't a danger so it won't go faster."
She welcomed the opportunity to brag a little at her improvement attempts with the car. The other Defenders mostly ignored her when there wasn't a need to fight, so life was often lonely on the compound. Having Martin so close and interested in working on magic was a lifesaver when she couldn't visit Corey.
"As long as we're inside the car, nothing can hurt us. Any attack will be repelled like a mirror, and if someone uses magic against it, they'll be zapped into an alternate dimension with vampire clowns. I'm pretty sure it won't do that to us, but don't chance it unless you're really sure you can get back all right."
