Sammy was on her second cup of coffee and swiping pictures across a tablet while she waited for Tim. She needed his brain and good sense, and his company. They'd been friends practically since diapers with their families so close, and she lorded her six month edge over him at every opportunity. It had become even more necessary when he shot past her in height before they'd reached junior high school.

Her shoulder injury was on the mend, but it had given her some time to think. It seemed only natural to talk about it with the best friend she had outside her Glock.

"Which I don't get at all, but that's another argument." Why Tim didn't date was a mystery. He was adorable, smart, the sweetest guy in the world. One day they'd be running SHIELD for her dad and his grandpa.

That would be her next project after the apartment thing, and any mission that came up. She'd find him a girl. Who better than the person who'd known him the longest?

"Have to admit, the one con you talked me into was fun. But roughing it? Not without hazard pay."

	The reason he didn't date was sitting across the table from him. "Yes, I forgot. You're the delicate flower of womanhood and roughing it is just too much for you," he teased. She laughed with him. Tim having a good time made her feel good. He needed more laughs to shake off the lab.

"I"ll give you the same deal you gave me for the prom. I'll be your con buddy if you don't get a better offer, and this time you're not allowed to pick a costume for me that's tighter than spandex. And there has to be hot water in the hotel room. And a hotel room!"

"Not all of them. Most of the women have breakaway costumes." Sammy had nerve, but not enough to wear /that/ kind of outfit. She didn't have what it took to fill a heroine costume. Besides, she liked breathing.

"Naw, we can share a room, unless I'll cramp your style. What happens at con stays at con, right? Like Vegas. Maybe there's time to get a suite. I'll pay half and reimburse you for the ticket."

Rich guys with too much time and money on their hands paid big bucks to do a fraction of what they did on a normal basis. "Now there's a thought. Next time you go diving, invite me along. She had the sneaky suspicion he was humoring her just like he had all their childhood, but she didn't care. She loved the Far East, and Europe, and the islands everywhere, and Tim was great company.

She grinned back. "But now you got me thinking about getting into real estate. Maybe a little condo somewhere for ski season. Whaddaya think? I'd let you use it anytime you wanted. You have a free pass into my clubhouse. No Boys Allowed - Except Timmy."
