The Youkai
He'd underestimated their power. Or perhaps he had overestimated his own. He was in a human body after all. Then again, perhaps it was a combination of both. Either way, it didn't change his current predicament.

After the attack Orochi had used the distraction of breaking the water from the street as a means to escape. Using his control over water he had found a small underground cave, usually flooded over. Ir was here where he was currently recovering. His body was healing, but not as quickly as he would have preferred. It would need to be sped along. He needed the remainder of his power. He would require assistance.

"If only I had the power to revive my servants. I suppose I must make do with what the current age provides me with." He began to chant, raising a hand as four of his fingers began to glow. "Find me four souls who hate those that attack me and grant them each a portion of my power. Bind to them the armors of the old times and bring them forth to serve me..my Youkai!"

Four beams of magic erupted from his fingers, seeking out those chosen.

"A good question, kensai. I would like to know myself," the voice continues to sound as if it is being spoken in multiple directions. It was then that a figure in gray samurai-like armor leaped from a building rooftop, a menacing kusarigama that practically screamed, windows shattering from the force, came at Hajime.

He doesn't have any truly superhuman gifts with which to battle the supernatural. Just raw skill, honed through centuries of training with the spirit masters. It will have to do.

He drops and rolls out of the way of the strike and force wave emanating from the weapon, trying to take advantage of its arc to step in and strike just behind its swing.

"Freed by an unknown?"

"I see no reason to tell you." As Hajime's sword came up, a wave of sonic force seemed to emanate from the armor as a means to drive the blade back.

The wave of force catches Hajime off guard, definitely nothing he'd expected from the assassin. The blade is deflected, and the samurai ends up backpedaling a bit to reassess his opponent.

"From your tone, and what you've said so far, I'm guessing you see no need to betray your own ignorance."

Yuji's eyes narrowed dangerously. "I will truly enjoy killing you." He throws his weapon out again, it shrieked, the sound-waves echoing off of it as it damaged everything it passed on its way to Hajime.

Close, too close. One good hit could kill or maim him easily. As it is, the sound waves are disorienting enough, even before the shock sends him flying - only narrowly avoiding the blade itself.

He rolls with the fall, coming back up, trying to find his balance in time to lunge and attempt to find a weak point before the blade returns to the assassin's hand.

"A shame you will not have that privilege then. You're more powerful... however you became so... but your skill is still lacking." So far, that edge is the only thing keeping him alive - and he's not entirely sure he even can hurt the man now. But he's not giving up.

Hajime's strike connects. It leaves a substantial cut into the armor, but not all the way through. Yuji hissed in anger and was about to attack when he suddenly stopped, a sudden compulsion to stop fighting and search for something took hold.

"No..I..damn it!" Yuji suddenly began to run, as he did all sound in the area suddenly vanished. The area had become a cone of silence.

Ok, so he can hurt the armor. That's a good thing to know, at least. Whether he could do enough to get to the man before he got that one lucky hit in remained a bigger question.

He wasn't expecting the villain to start running, giving him a good head start. Still, he has to try and find out what's going on - so he at least tries to follow.

Yuji ran, his footsteps producing no sound whatsoever. He looked back to see Hajime following him. He gave out a soundless snarl as suddenly a nearby building's wall crashed open, debris falling.

Hajime sees the attack, and dives out of the way of the debris, getting clipped a couple times, but nothing serious beyond a bit of a gash on one leg.

But with Hand training, that bit of distraction is all the time Yuji needs to disappear.

And Yuji proceeds to do just that, but not before allowing a small bit of sound to go through. "We WILL finish this, kensai!"

Though his first instinct is to begin searching, that would put him at a distinct disadvantage, if the Hand-trained fighter chose to try and finish it now. No, his first duty was to his lord - to make sure he survived to report this.

Staying to more open ground, he nods in the direction the man disappeared in, speaking quietly, more to himself and whatever fates and ancestors might be listening than to Yuji.

"Yes. We will."
