Alex didn't appear to have moved, and his hands were folded across his chest, but the particularly perceptive would notice the safety on his sidearm click back into the 'on' position.

"If that... is... quite..." He starts to speak, but his words slow. "This doesn't make sense... even now the tension shouldn't be this high..."

His head snaps upward as his skin turns green.

"Masks often hide those who have the most to gain." His almost ethereal gaze turns to the respirator-clad Varas... then past him.

"We will not risk Lord Vars' health on a baseless accusation!" objected another Rorian soldier.

"If he has nothing to hide, then do it!" called out a Merai soldier.

"Please, stop. It's..un..." Varas moved to speak before a coughing fit sent him to the ground.

"Lord Varas!"

"Pfft, it's all an act!" taunted a nearby Merai.

That was enough for a nearby Rorian to reach over and punch the Merai across the face. ..and then the roars and hisses of battle went out.

Alex snaps his visor into place and braces his own telekinesis around his body as strongly as he can, his mind buzzing as if some oppressive weight was pushing down on it. He doesn't want to do this. He wants to fire and punch and kick and detonate...

This isn't right.

	Groot did as ordered, immediately enlarging his mass by several feet. He could not yet reach the level of an adult Colossal Flora, but was still much larger than he had been. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

He's never tried this. He's wanted to try this, ever since watching some Avengers' tapes, but never gotten the chance.

Iason gives the others time to get on top of Groot, and trusts the alien to be able to withstand the blast - and trusting Quill to hit the dirt and hard.

Then the Eternal's hands come apart, then swing together hard as a focal point combining massive augmented strength - and aiming two concussive blasts from each hand inward, so all that energy is caught between his hands, and given only one direction to go - out in all directions, in a massive concussive shockwave capable of shattering glass and cracking stone, rolling much of the table and sending anything too light near him flying.

In other words...

Iason SMASH!

	Both sides shook with the force of Iason's actions, many falling off their feet. However, the Matron remained standing, seeing the fallen Varas. "There's an opening! Kill Varas and this is over!" 	"I don't think so, matron." Alex managed to stay standing amidst Iason's assault. He vaulted over the Merai Matron with a palm to her face, and landed near Varas. He pulled him up by the collar and went for the mask. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

As the Matron went down, Varas hand shot up and grabbed Quill's wrist. "As I said," Varas spoke as his grip would ighten far beyond a Rorian's strength. Pieces of rock and other detritus around them lifted in the air as some kind of force built. "That won't be necessary." He then flings Alex near-effortlessly away. The field of power seems to expand into a bubble, keeping everyone away from Varas.

	Iason moves to block one of the lines of fire, and only then notices Quill being tossed aside. Quickly determining this is a bigger threat than they'd figured on, he gets himself out of the way, and focuses on actively absorbing all of the energy he can. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Eliza pops her scope onto the gun and lines up Varas in the cross-hairs not sure if a shot will get through but she's willing to try anyways. This guy is dangerous. Besides she really loves this rifle, there's a good reason why the dealer called it a Widow Maker. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Red's weapons pound against the barrier, but don't seem to be doing too much damage. The Eternal's efforts were annoying, but he was at full-strength now, it was tolerable. 	Azura was pushed back, but she was in no way out of the fight. She put both hands on Godslayer and held it in front of her. A blast of cosmic energy came from her hands and then she charged in after it. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

The blasts collided with Varas' shields, creating a whole in the telekinetic bubble. He saw her coming and tried to to move out of the way of her swing. His helmet cracked as the sword tore a piece out. A hint of brown fur peaked out and a lupine ear. His hand shoots forward, sending a telekinetic burst to send Azura back from him.

"It doesn't matter. I don't need this anymore." His hands moved to the broken mask. He unhooked the respirator and tossed the helmet aside.
