The Serpent Awakes
Kazama Goda, foreman of the construction crew, oversaw the removal of the debris left in the wake of the dragon attack. All the damn monsters..he was seriously considering moving. Maybe to South Korea, he had family there on his uncle's side,

"Goda-san, you've got to see this!"

"What is it?" Goda asked, annoyed.

"I don't know, I think it's a dinosaur fossil!"

Officially intrigued, Kazuma went over to where it looked like a partially unburied, reptilian skull.

"Kami," he gasped, moving toward it.The attack must have uncovered it. It was magnificient, he thought, mesmerized and moving toward it.

"Goda-san?" one of the workers called.

He didn't hear it. He reached out and touched the skull..and Kazuma Goda vanished in a wave of primal power. A burst of energy enveloped the body, practically exploding with raw energy. It mutated and shifted, scales forming and muscles shifting as the body transformed in mid-air. Some of the workers fled, others seemed transfixed by what was happening. Finally it stopped as he majestically floated back to the ground, eyes closed.

"Kazuma?" One of the braver workers asked.

The eyes opened, yellow with slitted pupils.

"No," and a burst of lightning sends the man flying into a group of his colleagues. "Finally...flesh..blood. It is not much, but it is a start." He turns in the direction of a strong pulse. "Yes, merely the beginning." And he casually walks in the direction of the signal, energy crackling the ground as his feet touched.

"Grogg smash puny man!" he bellowed. "You no worry!"

Clockwork had been speaking with the local wildlife on the way.

"This opponent... is something unnatural. The face it wears is not its own. Like a worm inside a fruit."

"You may address me directly," the man suddenly said even if he was at a considerable distance. "I can hear you quite clearly. Are you soldiers of the local lord? Perhaps the Emperor?" His hands casually move behind him as he takes a few steps closer.

Hajime steps forward as if to shout his greeting, hand on his sword, likely a somewhat more familiar thing.

Then he pauses, glancing back at Amiko. This is her place to greet and brag if she wishes, before he says a word.

They had to try the easy way. Besides, it would give everyone a chance to get their bearings with this... Individual. When they arrived properly, Amiko came forward. She used the more old-fashioned dialect she'd learned some of when young and a bit more from knowing Hajime some time.

"Of the Emperor and his democratically-elected government. Much has changed. You are requested and required to cease any assault and identify yourself."

"A woman speaks for the Emperor now? Times have certainly changed since last I was awake. Still, the arrogance of the Imperial Throne certainly has not it seems." He walks and stands a little awkwardly, as if foreign to the concept of legs. "Very well, I will do you the courtesy of an introduction." For a moment his eyes take on a much more snakelike cast. "I am the Eight-Forked Serpent, Yamato no Orochi!"

Hajime bows - even if this thing speaks truly, there is no cause to be rude - but he never lowers his eyes.

"Amiko-sama stands as a daimyo - in defense of the Emperor's lands. I am Kazuhiro Hajime, kensai, sworn to her service. That form is not yours, and your awakening is certain to draw Susanoo's notice. We have no maidens for you, and none will be given, but we can produce rice and sake, if you will cease this assault and tell us how you came to this side of the hells. On my word, none will offer you harm while we speak and share drink."

There was a way to do these things, even among enemies. Besides, it was a way to inform his allies of old tales, even if in a very formal fashion.

There were lots of big words being tossed around, and Grogg only understood about every three out of four, but it was more than enough to understand.

More importantly, however, for all that he spoke and used silverware and signed autographs for children, there was still some part of Grogg that was very much an animal, the same small prehistoric terrapin who had been mutated by man's great fire. The same creature that had feared predators far swifter and stronger than he. That was always there, always a part of him, and it was screaming.

"Missy Kobayashi... this guy... this guy really bad. Really bad."

Hajime's reminders were most thoughtful, but Amiko's classical education wasn't that incomplete. She knew who this was.

"I know, Grogg," she tells him quietly. "I know. But we all need to be brave. People are counting on us."

Orochi arches an eyebrow. "Female daimyo? What changes have befallen Japan." It was not a question. "Oh you certainly have no need to worry about that, kensai. I have no intentions of living the rest of my existence in this body." He pauses. "The wine and the sake I understand, but what has given you the inclination I would desire maidens?"

In spite of BH6's government support staff's repeated offers, Clockwork still lacks any modifications that would enable facial expressions. However, there is no mistaking that the construct is incensed at this violation of another's body. Opposite Grogg's bestial instincts, Clockwork knows only that it was created to promote harmony amongst peoples, and with nature and spirits.

This... cancer is a perversion of everything its sense of self values.

"This presence must leave the human's body at once, without harming it." Clockwork says as it steps forward.

Nearby vegetation slowly begins to grow, animals cawing and chittering in the background.

"Ah. Clockwork-san," Kayura speaks up in that tone she uses when she is in her armor.

"It is best to not act rashly in this situation," she tries to advise. She herself though can feel that her armor is almost more alive right now. And it is the closest to unhappy about something it has been in a long time.

Keiji's connection to the supernatural wasn't as strong as Clockwork or Kayura, but he could still sense the power in the figure before them. He puts a hand on Clockwork's shoulder. "Let Amiko-san and Hajime-san handle this," he advised.

Grateful that there are some calming influences behind her, Amiko continues. "One can never truly predict gossip," she says wryly, calmly, to Orochi. "Regardless, is the invitation accepted?" She considers the terrain, the possibilities.

It may be best, of course, to consider the possessed already dead.

The being has told him a great deal already. He doesn't at all expect divine intervention - that wasn't how things worked in his day either, but he needed to know how much of legend might be reliable. Not much, it seems.

"We will need shelter, a table, rice and sake, at the minimum." He, too, would like to insist vacating the body - but that may not be an option, and he, more than the others, may be willing to sacrifice for the greater good. At the least, the serpent seems to recognize tradition enough that they're likely safe while they eat.
"If you have any other requests, I am certain they can be accommodated."

Amiko calls in to have everything necessary brought somewhere accessible that's appropriate and nearby. Now there will be time for crowd control, for hospitalizations for any treatable injuries.

And to decide how to take him down.

While things are being gathered, and Hajime makes sure everything necessary will be present, he quietly mentions to the others:
"Whatever you think of what he has done - he understands and has accepted hospitality. In older times, certain rules were placed so that enemies could meet without threat. Perhaps negotiate, perhaps learn or test one another, or just acknowledge that both sides were civilized. He will be at Amiko-sama's table. Attacking him while he is there, or threatening him directly, would be a dire insult to her - and to me. I would be forced to defend him until he leaves the table or breaks the rules of hospitality himself. As he questions the place of a female daimyo - I will offer myself to stand in, and see that your guest eats well and has conversation - if, say, the rest of you wish to determine what to do next."

He has a couple suggestions, but can't make them right now. The rules of hospitality forbid him making threats against his guest, and preparations are being made.

"Yes. Let's keep this between gentlemen. Especially since we girls have things to discuss. Kayura, you're with me. The place designated for the meal is right over there," she gestured. "Grogg, Keiji, Clockwork you're outside to keep people far away and make sure nothing goes wrong ahead of time."

"Hai," she says to let Amiko know she had heard her. She was already thinking about what they might need to get. They just couldn't get it right now.

And she didn't want to be rude about it either.

"As you say, Amiko-san." Keiji conveys a simple "be careful" look with his eyes before doing as she ordered.
