Boredom breeds bravery.
She'd been there a couple days now, tucked away in 'her room'. Food had been brought for her and Andrea-robot and touchy-Vincent had both tried to engage her in conversation, but she had nothing to talk about. All she wanted to know was when she'd be able to leave and why they kept saying she was related to someone she wasn't. They'd also told her she was free to 'move about the building' as she wanted, something she wasn't so sure about.

But, after the second day in the room, she'd gotten curious. Opening the door, she waited for alarms to sound, or feet to come rushing to put her back in. Nothing. Peeking her head around the frame, she saw no one, heard no one. Which made her a little braver; pushing the door flat open and standing there expectantly. Nope. Nothing. Well. We'd see about that. Taking a decisive step out of the room, she stuck her chin out, picking a direction to at random and marching down it.

She came to a room, one with couches and wide glass windows. Going over to one of the windows, she stood with her hands pressed against it, looking out at the city below her. So busy, like little ants. With the insulation of the building she couldn't hear the cacophony below, but she remembered it from her brief flight over. Busy, loud and chaotic. There didn't seem to be any order or regulations to anything they did. It was somewhat frightening, but also something that piqued her curiosity; nudging at memories long buried and locked away.

She may not be used to the mode of transport, but she could see how it could come in handy. Much less taxing than walking or flying, but... she always did like the feel of the wind in her hair.

Taking a moment to enjoy just being outside, she let her gaze drift around, looking over to where Vincent pointed.

Andrea adjusted her optical settings, peering far ahead. If you were to watch her eyes very very closely, you might see little lenses adjusting themselves.

"I believe you are correct," she said.

They find a comfortable place to sit and observe for a bit. Vincent turns to Evie. "Would you like to try playing with one? It's just throwing and catching."

"Why?" She couldn't figure out why everyone was throwing a disk back and forth between themselves. She couldn't see what purpose it filled.

"Because it is fun?" Andrea tried.

Vincent thinks for a moment. The girl seems so.. logic-driven.

"It's also excellent development of hand-eye coordination, and an enjoyable source of cardiovascular and aerobic exercise."

"Doesn't look fun." Back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. The activity seemed to serve little purpose.

Looking over at Vincent, she raised a brow. "I don't need to 'throw' anything." She emphasized her point by nodding her chin at one pair of frisbee flingers, making the frisbee divert sharply away from its course, sailing off to land nowhere near its intended target.

Vincent's back stiffens slightly. "A very wise man taught me while I was growing up that having powers does not make one powerful. There's a lot of value in cultivating skills normally."

Well, this was becoming awkward. She tried a different track. "What do you do for fun, Evie?"

Having the freedom to use her abilities was a novelty, and if she wanted to use them, she would, dammit. Turning back to Andrea, she shrugged. "We didn't have fun. But they let me play my music."

Her music wasn't 'fun'. It was her joy.

Ah, a safer topic, perhaps.

"What instrument did you play, Evie?"

"You play?" Andrea asked. "How wonderful! I play the accordion, myself."

This was a topic she actually enjoyed dipping into. "Piano, guitar and violin. I prefer violin."

It was the smaller of the instruments, and one she'd been allowed to play in her room, as long as the guard or scientist monitoring her at the time was partial to it.

"All very robust and refined instruments, albeit the middle one has been a bit co-opted." Vincent nods.

"We'd love to hear you play sometime."

"Don't have any instruments." And she missed them. She found the tips of her fingers tingled when she had an urge to play, her left hand almost able to feel the quiver of the strings as she held them in place.

"That is easily remedied. I have a serviceable violin, and a guitar that has probably collected some dust, but should still be in good shape." The former was good exercise for spell-casting gestures, the latter had been a three week phase to impress a few girls.

"And I'd be happy to help you purchase your own, if you don't like the feel of the ones we have on hand."

"You do?" Cue one look of intense interest from Evie. The idea of being able to play again... it brought her a sense of peace and pleasure.

The pun went over Evie's head, having not actually been told of the team name for the Baxter Building inhabitants. "Like what?"

"Invading ravagers from the Negative Zone, Subterranea, and/or the Microverse are the most common things we deal with, along with the occasional tantrum by..." He tenses. "..my father, or sometimes Namor." Vincent shrugs.

"We help people. We save them when we find them in danger, and we work on ways to make the world better."

"Okay..." Helping people. She supposed that was better than the alternative, but she still didn't know what she was supposed to do with or for them.

She wondered if she should take this opportunity to flee, though she wasn't sure where she'd go if she did.
