Beneath The Streets
The subway tunnels and other tunnels underneath to the streets of Boston were home to some homeless people along with other non-human things. Deviants, a race of genetic 'failures' created by the Celestials, also lived in the dark places under the city of Boston. The small group hid from humanity and from their ancient enemies, the Eternals. Once they numbered millions on the surface and subjugated the ancestors of modern man, but the accursed Eternals and Celestials decimated their numbers and drove them into hiding.

Gruck moved about in the almost total darkness. He and his fellow deviants had moved into a new section of abandoned tunnels and were busy exploring. Gruck's foot struck something and he stopped to inspect it. He turned the object over in his hands and used a clawed hand to brush away some of the dirt crust enveloping the object. Light burst forth from the small cleared path and Gruck's yellow reptilian eyes widened. Blue light illuminated the tunnel.

The other deviants around him stopped and started at the object in Gruck's hands. Gruck pulled the gem in closer to his body and glared at each of his fellow deviants. It was his and he had been the one to discover it and he would be the one to keep it. He could feel the power coming from the gem and he wanted it for himself. He could read the thoughts of the deviants around him. This was the gem's doing. With his mind Gruck pushed his thoughts out to the other deviants and for a moment he felt resistance, then submission.

The other deviants dropped to their knees in front of Gruck.

Gruck smiled. The gem gave him power over the other deviants and he knew what he was going to do.

Over the next few weeks the numbers of deviants beneath the streets of Boston grew as those under Gruck's power brought more deviants into the city. Gruck's power grew with each use of the gem and he was able to control more and more deviants. He didn't stop there. He expanded his control to the humans that were also living under the streets.

When Gruck thought he had enough he led them to the surface. It was time to reclaim the surface for the deviants and enslave humanity.

Chaos reigned on the streets of Boston from the Back Bay to Beacon Hill.

	Iron Girl arrived on the scene and did a quick assessment. "Take out the deviants, but not the humans," she said as she unleashed a repulsor blast at a pair of deviants. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	It's not an easy feat, getting all the of the rampaging and/or brainwashed humans out of one's way when one is trying to deal with the devaints. Bea wrestles a few to the ground in the most efficient way possible. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"And for the hot chick in the heavy metal bondage gear - if your sensors pick anything up, just relay coordinates, I've got you covered." she adds, continuing to play situational sniper. So far Martin has managed to clear an area behind him to place the humans he's moved out of the deviants way. The problem begins when he has too many to protect so he can no longer keep pushing the deviants away. He's got two of his discs he's expanded and is using as shields to keep the groups coming at him and the humans at bay. But right now he's no longer pushing them back, he's barely keeping the shields intact.

Stupid headache was ruining everything.

	Gruck instructed all of his followers to attack the people who dared to try to stop him. Deviants and humans started toward the heroes. Gruck used the gem to try to convert the heroes to his cause. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	For a few moments, Kelly struggles with the control, blinking and shaking as if trying to clear her head. Thankfully, with her brain, its hard for anything to keep hold long - and it mostly serves to piss her off. Martin is having a hard time keeping up the shields from Gruck's pressing army, so when he starts to feel someone else's magic start trying to invade his mind he gets annoyed. It's hard to explain the feeling of another's magic in your space but it's...uncomfortable. Between his mutation that constantly lets magic leak out of him and the fact that being annoyed just makes more leak out...it's harder to affect him with magic manipulation.

His frustration causes a spike in the power he's putting out and with one last push the shields break as he sends the nearby deviants flying back and at the same time clears his mind a bit. The headache is still there though.

He needs backup now. With a wave he conjures up new discs, one to carry him closer to the source and another to deposit the few humans who aren't still affected on a nearby rooftop.

How did that telepathy thing go again? He really should practice it more...

HELLO? OOPS- TOO LOUD sorry okay that's better. Umm if there's any superheroes out there...there's a magical disturbance that's causing a riot and the source is right by...umm actually right by the Iron...person?

He really needs to get caught up on all the superhero names, too much time living with Dr. Strange tends to isolate you.

	Crosshairs waves to the flying guy when he reaches the rooftop, evacuating people. Telepathy more or less causes a buzz in her head, she gets the basic idea, but trying to keep up a telepathic link with her would worsen any tepe's headache - if not quite as bad as trying to read her mind. 	Anya shook her head again in an attempt to shake off the gem's influence, but it was useless. Her mind was overwhelmed and she had only one thought and that was protect Gruck from the invaders. She turned and headed right for Crosshairs firing her repulsors. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	The first shot tags Kelly head on, sending her flying away from her sniper position and into a chimney, with a smoking hole in her side. "I'd be cursing you right now... but that was really sexy. Martin waves cheerfully at the woman on the roof, secretly glad that someone had heard his telepathic shout-out, he really wasn't in the condition to listen or search for any feedback.

The guns make him pause but it's not like there weren't superheroes with guns around and he needed help. "Yeah! I mean it's kinda new magic. Not in the sense that it just popped up but like whoever is using it didn't have it before..." Oh it's hard to explain magic to people. "I mean the...flavour is different if it's a person's magic or a thing's magic and I they're using whatever it is to-ah!"

The exclamation comes just as he narrowly dodges the repulsor blast and sees the woman go flying back. Martin conjures up one of his magic discs to act as a shield for the next round of attacks and directs the one he's standing on to fly over to the chimney.

"Well I was going to say they're using it for mind control but it's kind of-are you alright?!" There a smoking hole in her side and she's getting up? Okay that was impressive...

	Gruck was happy to see the armored girl attack one of her teammates. His deviants and humans brought more people into the street and Gruck swayed them to his caused with the gem. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"Fine, aside from really hot & bothered right now." She fires off a couple rounds at Anya, not expecting them to do anything, but keep her attention on Crosshairs, not the mage.
"Go find the pale chick with the heavy armaments... tell her I need a plan, and coordinates on whoever is causing this... and now... gotta run!" she calls to him, firing her heavy pistol with one hand, holding her guts in with the other while the wound stitches, going on the run to try and get Anya to chase her.

Finally a plan! "You got it!" He gives her a salute and a blue flame erupts from the flying disc to engulf him and he's gone.

Now where is he going to find...well that was easy, find whoever those deviants over there seem to have trouble with. Martin lets the disc fly over and lower itself so that he's hovering less than a meter above the ground.

"Hey! I was told by that girl with the guns on the roof to go find you. She's kinda tied up with the person in the armour there. Oh and she needs a plan and coordinates on the source. I can teleport us closer to the source if you need, just step right up!" He indicates his hovering disc. Offering her a hand up wouldn't be a good idea, he doesn't want to accidentally turn her blue or something.

Kelly evades the blasts by leaping off the building, swinging off a flagpole, and hitting a fire escape across the way, going into full freerunning mode.

"Check." she replies across the telepathic link. "I have a plan, but I need you two to clear all the civilians you can out of that area. Then you're going to need a spatula, possibly some tweezers and the fire department's number. And if this goes really pear shaped..." she tears up dramatically. "Tell my sister I love her."

Beat.
"I love her long time, five dolla."

For some reason this telepathic link is hard to maintain, he's not sure if it's just because he's not very good at it, the headache or her or maybe even all of the above.

Okay we can clear them out. I don't know what any of the rest of that means...but if you need to I can do a time freeze spell on that iron person. But it'll only last a few minutes at most, I don't know how to turn the suit or machine thing there off...

"Your sister is a little confusing but ummm I think she said pretty much to evacuate civilians cause she has a plan. And that she loves you and something about five dollars?" Was that code? Well this was all very confusing.

Gluck used more of the gem's power to bring more people in the area under his control. The gem's influence spread outward and started to affect the people in the nearby office buildings and stores. They stopped doing their jobs and started to head for the elevators and stairs.

Gluck seemed to grow in size and as he did his body seemed to ripple as if it was not stable and handling the growth well.

The humans and deviants under the gem's control continued to go after the heroes.

Crosshairs heads directly for Gluck. Some of Anya's blasts she takes, getting scraped, burned, electrocuted and perforated, but managing to keep going, after making sure, whatever the mage did, he did not time freeze Anya.

Crosshairs vaults over some of the deviants on her way to Gluck. She's pretty sure none of her handguns would do the job... so she uses an Anya.

Specifically, sacrificing as much of herself as she needs to to get there, the next electrical blast is 'blocked' with Kelly's backpack.

Said backpack just happens to contain her entire stock of plasma grenades, 8 pounds of C4, several fragmentation grenades, some homemade napalm bombs, and, for color and texture, all the fireworks left over from the 4th of July.

As she sees the blast coming, Kelly winks at Gluck.
"Michael Bay, eat your heart out."

	Superheroes are odder than he thought. "Got it." Martin helps her by putting up more of his discs as shields to seperate the civilians from the deviants but soon he starts noticing the streets are becoming crowded... "Umm...Miss?
