Calling Around
A lot going on very quickly. It had been so long that it was just him and Gio... then Angelo. Since then, things have grown quickly. Andrew fully intended to take advantage of that. Now that they've brought on some official staff, it was time to take advantage of all that momentum. As soon as he gets caught up, however temporarily, on paperwork, he starts making calls...

Calling Xavier's.... asking for both Cassidy, and one of the McCoys.
Calling Nell.
Calling Rikki up at her convenience.
Calling Julian.

Any of these could go quite badly... but nothing was ever acheived through a lack of effort.

	Julian has Minnie place a call to Nell St. Croix, inviting her to dinner at a time and place of her choosing to discuss her ideas for District X. On the night in question, Julian asks that Minnie attend the dinner with him to get a second opinion of the young woman as well. (Reply to this)(Thread)

Rikki wasn't thrilled at going out for this. Nell assumed there was something on television she wanted to watch, but this was important. And exciting. Andrew had approved of her plan and now she was getting to share it. Nell arrived right on time at a steak house not too far from District X...though still far enough away to be considered fashionable. It was all a part of Nell's presentation.

Julian rises when Nell enters the room, looking her over from head to toe. Tonight, he wears a black Ralph Lauren Purple Label suit with Italian leather shoes (are they any other kind?) and his engraved golden cuff-links.

He didn't break out the Armani, so he Minnie would know that Julian was dressing casually this evening.

"Miss St. Croix!" Julian greets, getting the pronunciation of her name correct on the first try.

"Thank you for coming this evening. This is my assistant, Minnie. I'm glad you could make it. Would anyone care for a glass of wine?" he asks, nodding to their waiter.

	An assignment from the Heir was a sign of faith and trust, no matter how little she liked what she was doing. 	The bodyguard was clearly a mutant. The St. Croix girl... well, she definitely wasn't related to the Algerian St. Croixs. High energy, but perfectly baseline. But her bracelet.... Minnie tried not to stare and just nodded and smiled. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"Not a problem at all." Julian smiles as the waiter comes over. He orders waters for everyone at the table, deciding to leave the wine for later on.

"Andrew speaks well of you, Miss St. Croix. I hear that you have some ideas regarding District X that could benefit the area, but first, please tell me a bit about yourself.

Why is this project important you?" Julian asks.

	Rikki reminded herself that, for the good of mutantkind, they needed this man's help. Because there was something about him she just did not like. Nothing she could put her finger on, and certainly nothing he had done, but... call it a gut level reaction. She was mostly gut reaction, so, well, she usually went with it. She'd let Nell explain. Nell was quiet and a little somber for a few moments before she began to speak, her eyes serious as she collected her thoughts.

"It sounds trite and a little distant, but the truth is that the importance of this project for me goes back before I was born. It goes back to my great aunt, whom I never had the chance to meet as she died because emergency responders did not want to touch a mutant. That one event changed the course of generations and brought us all to the cause. We lost one of our own because of hatred.

"On my mother's side of the family...there has always been a particular closeness with mutants. I grew up with my mother being close friends with Magneto. When your history is woven with people deemed different, you don't see them that way. You see them as your friends, your neighbors, as being like you and when injustice happens to them, it's on you as well. That's why this project is important to me, Mr. Howard."

Julian listens to Nell, quickly picking up on the idea that this woman may not be a mutant after all, though he can't yet confirm it. He listens to her speak and is almost ready to count her as a decent human being until she mentions Magneto.

Julian's interest in Nell St. Croix refocuses sharply once she mentions his father's friendship with her mother. He'd have to look into this as discreetly as possible.

"Your reasons are compelling, Miss St. Croix. I think I can introduce you to some people who are willing to hear you out." Julian says.

"Now, what specific plans do you have for District X?" he asks.

"The primary plan is to create a dining, shopping, entertainment destination. This will create jobs for those who live here as well as bring income to the neighborhood economy. To make this efficient, however, affordable housing options within easy walking and transit area. Ironically, some years ago Walmart had a European neighborhood concept they were trying to get off the ground that more or less created an economic village. I believe it would be very successful and I would like to start implementing that first."

	The other girl was paying close attention to them, that much, Rikki was certain of. Then again, she wasn't surprised. "Your idea makes sense, Miss St. Croix. I've spent some time in Europe so I'm familiar with the concept your talking about. I think District X could become a cultural and economic destination with the right help. Luckily, we have a few politicians willing to listen to our ideas.

Between that and some private investors, I think this can be done. Considering the amount of work that's going to go into all of this, a new power grid for that housing would be needed and I saw on television that there's a new firm called Renaissance Technologies that's marketing something called 'Zero Point Energy'.

They say it's even cleaner than nuclear and cheaper than gas or electric. Just think of all the funding one could get with clean energy sources from our current administration." Julian smiles at her, then at Rikki.

	St. Croix's bodyguard would be tough to take down without exposing Julian, that much was sure. They key would be that if the girl got riled up enough to attack, it would be important to rile her up all the way.
