The Second Day
The first 24 hours, before much of the news had even been officially released, had been the most intense. Surgically precise raids on residential buildings had yielded large amounts of both MGH and illegal weapons seizures, along with the capture of several individuals with outstanding warrants. Civilians had been kept at a safe distance as the arrests were made. It was a harsh atmosphere, but the message of the law being enforced was clear.
The second day was more impersonal, as concerned groups began showing up to gawk from just behind police barricades. Homes were being emptied with no apparent findings, and residents were relocated. The police and Castleman agents were toeing the line precisely. No smiling faces like on flight attendants, but no more gruffness than the likes of EMTs having to force their way through a crowd.
It was as if each building had already had its threat level confirmed.
