Settling In

Things had been moving fast for Sengai Senyaka. First he met with Andrew Summers, head of the Genosha Consulate, and his bodyguard Giovanna Bennet, http://www.scribbld.com/users/whoholdsthewhip/318.html . He had explained his reasons for his coming then, the nature of his often difficult powers, and his own desire to to learn about the conflict between humans and mutants. Summers struck him as a good man, young perhaps, but he defintiely knew what he was talking about. He seemed like the kind of individual Sengai could see himself working under, but he wasn't going to make a hasty decision. Afterwards, Giovanna had engaged him in a sparring session in order for him to attempt to control his powers during a combat scenario. http://www.scribbld.com/users/burnwithlight/1827.html. He was pleased the progress, but knew it would still be some time before he was comfortable enough with his powers. Still, it had been a rewarding experience. He was pretty sure he could could consider Andrew and Giovanna friends, but he tried not to get too attached to the idea. Afterall, he wasn't there to make friends.

He was currently in the consulate lunchroom, sash on his shoulders. After the training session, he looked forward to simply sitting and having something to eat.

Cassidy waits downstairs while the receptionist calls up to see if he'll be admitted. He'd already called Uncle Scott to let him know that he'd made it safely to the Embassy.

He just hopes that this goes well. It would be nice to bring Izzy back here to see this place.

He holds his back-pack at his side and runs through a breathing exercise to calm himself, nothing the faint green outline of his containment suit beneath his black shirt.

	Gio takes a bite or two, then gets out of her chair to stand next to Andrew -- and slightly further away from Sengai as she lets her own energy build up a bit more. 	Cassidy is slightly started at the appearance of this new person, but he smiles at the same. He's a teleporter, just like Ellie, it seems. "Uh, hey. Nice to meet you. Call me Cassidy, please." he says, offering a hand to shake. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"Of course. Right this way, please."

Angelo, out of courtesy, has Cassidy take the elevator. Certain individuals find the teleportation process unpleasant. Also, there's no need to let him know he can take passengers, yet.

He leads him up to the lunch room, and walks over to the others. "Welcome to the Genoshan Consulate, Cassidy. May I offer you a fruit tart?" He gestures to the table.

Cassidy nods to each person in the room when he enters, immediately focusing upon Andrew. He looks like the person in the picture he saw. He doesn't recognize the woman, or the man with the glowing eyes, but he assumes they're either bodyguards or other politicians.

He's really not sure what the answer is, but he meets all of their gazes evenly.

"Sure, I'll have a...fruit tart." he says.

"My name is Cassidy Summers. Good to meet all of you."

	Sengai nodded his head in greeting. His eyes sparked a bit at Cassidy's presence. It was different that most, it didn't hurt so much. Something about his powers must be different to ellicit such a reaction. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Older brother? Well, that's quite the surprise. He would have thought his parents would know something of that... but then the Summers clan is weird. Stranger things have happened. Being a Summers, Cassidy making that kind of claim makes what he's saying more credible than some kind of more likely sounding connection if he was trying to get in good graces.

"Well... I'm curious about this source and how that happened, I'll admit."

"My birth was engineered by a man I knew as Doctor Milbury. He kidnapped my mother and obtained genetic material from my father.../our/ father, Alexander Summers." Cassidy tells the assembled, hoping that they'll hear him out and not throw him out right now.

"My mother gave birth to me and I didn't see her again after that, until recently. Her name is Theresa Rourke Cassidy." he says.

"Later on, I learned Dr. Millbury's real name: Sinister. He arranged my birth for his own purposes, those I'm not really sure of. Everything I'm telling you is right here, in this file." he says, pulling a manila envelope from his bag and placing on the table before Andrew.

"The genetic information was tested and confirmed by Doctors Hank McCoy and Cecelia Reyes of the Xavier School for the Gifted. You can contact them if you need more." he says, taking a deep breath as he regarded all of them.

"Uncle Scott's been really good to me, but I needed to know more about where I come from, which is why I made contact with you, Andrew. I went back and forth about it for several months, but I decided to send the letter to break the ice first." he finishes.

Gio's lip curls in anger as soon as she hears the name Milbury -- yes, it's possible her family's done all the research they could on everyone how ever served the False God; she recognizes the common alias.

She knows she should let Andrew talk first, but she can't help it. Once Cassidy's done, she has to ask, "Have you had a psychological evaluation at Xavier's? Some victims of Sinister and those he's worked with have experienced mental conditioning..."

"I don't let people go into my head." he says immediately, his shoulders tensing a bit.

"I spent a year with an inhibitor collar on with the constant threat of having it detonated on a daily basis. Sinister and his goons also enjoyed various forms of psychological and physical torture whenever I did something they didn't care for.

He's got a code-word that can make me sleep. That's about it. I know that because he used it on me recently to keep me from attacking him. Furthermore, my powers don't work within a few yards of him." Cassidy tells her.

Andrew takes all of this in very carefully. He opens the file and skims it.
"Calling the avier institute would be a waste of time. You wouldn't have brought something so easy to confirm if it wasn't true, and I trust Dr. McCoy's expertise on genetics. Given the clear concerns about conditioning, Genoshan state secrets will remain as such - but our family history is not particularly secret, and I'm happy to help my brother." he replies, after the skimming.

"I just want to be clear. I'm not a spy or anything. I don't want to be a problem or an inconvenience. Sinister told me that my parents sold me for money and I spent a long time believing that. I know it's not true now, but I'm learning to see things differently." Cassidy says.

He pauses for a moment, trying to decide how to phrase his next question for Andrew.

"Uncle Scott wasn't particularly talkative on the subject of his brother. I gathered that there's a huge difference of opinions on certain things, especially with him being on Genosha.

I don't want us to go down that same road. I'm here to understand what you've learned and maybe why there's a rift between Uncle Scott and...Mr. Summers." Cassidy says, not wanting to offend Andrew by using the term "our dad".

He hadn't really earned that yet.

"Alright, first... given what you've found, I'm entirely willing to believe that you're my brother, and my father is yours as well. You're not the first family I've discovered that I hadn't known I had...

Second, you're neither problem nor inconvenience. You're family. Our family is full of all sorts of... issues. These things happen. Given what you're saying, I'll trust you understand when I say you're a security risk, probably without your will... Sinister does that. That neither makes you a spy, a problem or any less my blood. In truth, it pretty much just makes you a Summers.

As for going down that road, unlike our father and Scott Summers, I invite people to disagree with me. I disagree in equal measure with Charles Xavier and Eric Lensherr, and agree with them in other degrees. Despite that, I can co-exist with people who disagree with me - and welcome discussion.

As for the disagreement between the elder brothers Summer, Mother and Father disagreed with Magneto as firmly as ever, but believed that there was good that could come out of Genosha as long as it didn't fall into fanaticism, and lack viewpoints other than Magneto's. Scott Summers felt that absolutely nothing could come of any sort of alliance with Magneto. The relationship was troubled before that - but that was the dividing point."

	As concerned as she is about the whole situation, Giovanna can't help a small smirk as she nods. She's relieved that Andrew understands that Cassidy doesn't have to have the least bad intentions to be a security risk, and hopes Cassidy won't hold that against ~~her angel~~ his brother. Cassidy nods, considering Andrew's words. He hadn't fully decided where he stood on Professor Xavier's dream and what he'd learned to be Magneto's doctrine. Both men had valid, obvious points to their beliefs that were shared the world over.

He knew where he stood on Sinister's original plans for him to be another possible messiah, which Cassidy wanted no part of.

"I'd like to hear your thoughts on both men when you've got some time. I've been doing a lot of reading on various religions and ways of belief, in addition to the mutant versus human debate, and I'm still deciding where I stand. The X-Men saved my life, but there are some questions I've had that no one seems willing to answer for me." he says.

"Thank you, though, for giving me a chance. I appreciate that." he says.

Cassidy smiles at Giovanna's revelation. "He's a geologist? That's pretty cool. I like science myself, but I'm more into chemistry and other things...but I guess I know where I get the aptitude from, now."

	It was at this point Sengai chose to speak. "For what it may be worth, I too am unsure where I stand in regards to the human-mutant situation.
