Settling In

Things had been moving fast for Sengai Senyaka. First he met with Andrew Summers, head of the Genosha Consulate, and his bodyguard Giovanna Bennet, http://www.scribbld.com/users/whoholdsthewhip/318.html . He had explained his reasons for his coming then, the nature of his often difficult powers, and his own desire to to learn about the conflict between humans and mutants. Summers struck him as a good man, young perhaps, but he defintiely knew what he was talking about. He seemed like the kind of individual Sengai could see himself working under, but he wasn't going to make a hasty decision. Afterwards, Giovanna had engaged him in a sparring session in order for him to attempt to control his powers during a combat scenario. http://www.scribbld.com/users/burnwithlight/1827.html. He was pleased the progress, but knew it would still be some time before he was comfortable enough with his powers. Still, it had been a rewarding experience. He was pretty sure he could could consider Andrew and Giovanna friends, but he tried not to get too attached to the idea. Afterall, he wasn't there to make friends.

He was currently in the consulate lunchroom, sash on his shoulders. After the training session, he looked forward to simply sitting and having something to eat.

Andrew had come in just ahead of Angelo, having missed most of the conversation so far, but glad to join them.
His lunch is somewhat less basic than Gio's, as usual, going with a steak, baked potato and a side of vegetables.

"We appreciate your dedication, but Magneto and his family knows the risks. The work here is more important, or we wouldn't be risking so much. Sengai Senyaka, this is Angelo Bennet, Angelo, our guest, Sengai Senyaka."

Gio's always glad to see Andrew with a hearty meal. Boy could forget to eat at any time. "Grazie, Fratello mio," she says when Angelo brings the bread.

She gets into more immediate business, looking to Andrew. "We had an interesting and informative practice session." Pause. "With reminders that it's okay to hit a girl provided she can defend herself, something someone at this table could stand to remember." She eyes her baby brother.

Angelo goes from preening lightly at the thanks, to shaking hands, to shooting his sister a fleeting glare. Angelo knows he can hit girls perfectly fine, thank you. He just doesn't like to.

His smile returns at Sengai's comment though. Finally, some recognition for the threat he poses. (He missed the smirk.)

"Help yourself to the bread and butter. I should have desert ready once you're all finished." No sister of his, let alone Andrew, was going to suck down cafeteria tapioca or some vending machine item if he had any say about it. Angelo starts in on his roast beef and cheddar panini, flanked by a baked potato of his own and gnocchi with alfredo.

Angelo lights up at the news. "That's wonderful!" After the... near incident that the goodwill visit to Alpha Flight had been, he was delighted to hear of someone reaching out to them.

"When will he be arriving? What is his relation to the rest of the Summers family?" A beat, then a required addendum.

"Is he native to this dimension and/or a clone or other genetic construct?"

"He's passed the security screening at Xavier's, I've been able to confirm that much. I'll also have Giovanna here. Weapons screening is obviously hardly effective with mutants in many cases, but we'll try to be careful. I may not entirely agree with Xavier's methods, but their security in the past year has been excellent - I'll give him a lot more benefit of a doubt on that than I would if he was a stranger."

Angelo is about to say something, when the timer on his phone goes off. He vanishes, returning a minute later wearing oven mitts and holding a tray of fruit tarts fresh from the oven. He smiles as he sets one before each person at the table. Giovanna's has chocolate drizzled on it.

"If it would be less stressful, I could show him around the city. It's an understandable amount of culture shock." Angelo nods to Sengai.

Oh, that's very obviously tempting from Giovanna's experession, but she suddenly pauses and, with a breath. shakes her head.

"If he's from Xavier's, he's expecting the big bad wolf. We've got a better chance of getting him to listen to reason if you're in your less intimidating form."
Pause. Smile. "I will still happily scare the life out of him if necessary, but if it's not, maybe he'll feel better ... ma foi, Angelo, that looks delicious."

Cassidy waits downstairs while the receptionist calls up to see if he'll be admitted. He'd already called Uncle Scott to let him know that he'd made it safely to the Embassy.

He just hopes that this goes well. It would be nice to bring Izzy back here to see this place.

He holds his back-pack at his side and runs through a breathing exercise to calm himself, nothing the faint green outline of his containment suit beneath his black shirt.

	Gio takes a bite or two, then gets out of her chair to stand next to Andrew -- and slightly further away from Sengai as she lets her own energy build up a bit more.
