Time for a Chat
Danielle was resting after another blood test. Vicki wasn't far from her if she needed anything.
There'd been a great deal going on, and Moira had several things on her mind, only some of which she wanted there.
So that afternoon she called up an old pal.

Polite and eloquent but straightforward and says the sweetest things. Moira can't help but smile and say "Thank you," quietly.

Still confident that no one present is dumb enough to ever have had any intention of kicking anyone's ass, she then looks to Vincent. "Done worrying yet? And if you ever want to go to look at animals with Danielle and me, I do think we can grasp the idea of their belonging to someone else." Another warm, if slightly less impressed and more teasing, smile.

Vincent was exceedingly grateful to Moira for speaking first. It gave him time to reconsider his instinctive response, and compose himself. A tinge of red might have shown in his ears a moment earlier. He muttered to his friend. "He's eloquent. I'll grant him that right from the start." He clears his throat as he calms himself, having especially bristled at the Valkyrie mention. Martial combat was a sore area for Vincent, when compared to proper Asgardian standards.

"Lucas, I apologize if we got off on the wrong foot. My.. social circle, while wide, is something tenuous at best. I don't pursue many friendships. I love strongly, if rarely, and Moira's family were the first people I learned to care for; I must politely ask you to excuse my bravado today. I have no wish to fight anyone if it can be avoided, Moira will attest to that of my nature. I only wished to fulfill my part in trying to look out for a very dear friend, let alone one new to this world."

His expression darkens slightly. "I know full well what my capacity is, and it is my mortal half that should always be of much graver concern." He shakes those issues off, for the moment.

He extends his hand as well. "A pleasure. I'm Vincent Amorason, son of Amora the Enchantress, of Asgard, and Victor Von Doom, of Latveria. I am a child of chaotics at best, and a malicious rogue and heartless monster, respectively, at worst. My family is the Fantastic Four, with due respect to Lord Hrimhari's clan as well. I am a sorcerer and a scientist, who has been forced from the time I could walk to learn to control and leash what I am capable of doing. I would be considered a frail and weak thing by Asgardian standards, but find myself alone in what I can do on Midgard. I have had fortune beyond what I have likely earned to have a family that I care for beyond reason, and a woman that I adore, and who loves me, even if that is not a sentiment I can return just yet. I have also been blessed with exceptional friends, that it was to my great detriment to lose for many years." He smiles at Moira.

"I think anything else can be filled in as we go." He gives Lucas' hand a squeeze, along with a lopsided smile.

Lucas shakes his hand and nods. "That's a lot better, thank you Vincent, and its nice to meet a friend of Moira's, and a fellow magic worker, however one does it. As for your bravado, you might consider leaving it at home from time to time. If the girls consider you a friend, and you're part of the Fantastic Four, I'm quite sure you're capable of being a very nice person... but the ego doesn't do you any favors in making new friends. No one likes to feel like they're being talked down to. Besides, I've always found that the people I consider the wisest and most intelligent realize that however much they know, and however much they've learned, its vastly eclipsed by how much they have left to learn. If, as you say, you've found yourself in possession of incredible abilities here on Midgard... then I'm very happy for you. Do incredible things with them, instead of telling people about them, and you'll earn my respect. Act like you want to be my friend, instead of a bully or a superior, and I may well call you my friend in time too. Its a pleasure to meet you."

There's a slight shift in Moira's expression at one point as Vincent speaks -- she doesn't think it's a good idea to go around telling people about the extent of Andrea's feelings before Vincent can share them and admit to doing so. But she doesn't say anything, because Vincent's getting plenty of Helpful Suggestions at the moment.

But there's one thing she has to say.
"Now that the two of ye are acquainted, you can make yourselves useful. Something like explaining why it's called the world series when not even the whole hemisphere seems to be involved in it."

"Because we can hardly keep talking about rough starts or differences in magic or who's related to monsters. Not with my ignorance and my grandfathers, respectively." Although that's another case where the human monster could be considered more disliked.

Lucas grins and nods. "I'd much rather talk baseball, thank you. Its called the world series because originally, they intended other nations to join and form international rivalries. Because of the expense of overseas travel at the time, none did until they added two Canadian teams. But the US major leagues are still recognized as the top place in baseball, so the best players from around the world still come here. They thought about changing the name for a while, but world series had stuck." he replies.
"Besides, you're hardly ignorant. You and your people are as connected to the outdoors as I am. In a lot of ways, you're a lot closer to my kind of magic than Vincent is, and I'm as ignorant about what he does as you are, which is fine with me. I don't think I'd be a very good student of Asgardian sorcery."

"Lucas accurately explained the baseball situation, most likely better than I could. Athletic competitions don't interest me greatly."

He considered Lucas perspective on sorcery. "Wizardry you might be able to get a graps on. Sorcery is something you simply can or can't do, based on inborn power."

Vincent tilted his head at Moira. "I... don't believe you ever mentioned Lady Rahne's father, only Lord Loki."

Moira smiled. "Thank ye; I was wondering. I really dinna know much about baseball, except that some of Mummy's friends thought Da would make a good pitcher for the Mets." She chuckled.

Moira shrugs. "He was a liar and a cad with a penchant for fear, indoctrination, and firey torches."

"We didn't have a television... I used to listen to Colorado Rockies games on the radio most nights during the season. As for wizardry and sorcery... that's alright. Even if I had the potential, I think I'll stick to being a shaman. That's study and work enough."

"I'd be delighted to compare notes sometime, if you're willing to divulge your experiences." Vincent smiled, giving Moira a sympathetic smile.

"We all have things in our background we'd rather not."

"I'd like to hear a game sometime. Perhaps even see one, especially once Danielle is recovered."

Moira nods. "The important thing is that Granny got her out of the situation."

"Well... I didn't know you might like baseball. The playoffs are pending, but we might just have time to go see a game... third date, I'll treat you to both of our first live pro baseball game? Hopefully hot dogs and soda will do instead of oat cakes and ginger ale?"
He glances between the two, knowing something of Rahne's background from his mother. He nods in agreement with Moira's sentiment.

Vincent hesitated, then coughed into his hand. "Not to seem like I'm butting in, but... Andrea enjoys baseball very much." Even if he doesn't. "Perhaps the four of us could go together at some point?"

"Well I am curious." She looks to Vincent. "That might be very interesting!" Moira smiles. "Andrea seems like a verry nice girl," she tells Lucas. "And verry pretty, too."

"I'm sure she is, but afraid I won't notice. I only have eyes for one girl. But I'd love to meet her. Sure, find a game you want to go to within easy commute. You're probably better with a computer than I am... you get us four tickets, and I'll get dinner at the game?"

"Commuting distance really doesn't mean much for me." Vincent replied casually, then tensed slightly as he realized he might be sounding confrontational again. "Which is to say that I can teleport the lot of us as necessary. Saves on public transit costs." He smiles. "And the environment."

He adds. "Thank you for the offer to cover the food costs."

Apparently this comes as good news. "Great - everyone up for a Colorado Rockies game then? I'd have dealt with Yankees, Mets or Sox...but I'd rather go see my home team."

Vincent blinked, surprised at the enthusiasm. All the teams were very much the same to him, although he'd been influenced enough by growing up in the same building as the Richards family to give a token nod of approval to the Yankees on occasion.

"I... see no problem with that, as long as Andrea finds it agreeable as well."

He pauses, smirking. "And saying you'll 'deal with' the Red Sox as easily as you would the Yankees is paramount to blasphemy in New York."

"Yes, but I'm not a New Yorker. The Rockies only see the Yankees or Sox once every three years. Baseball, football, hockey... its all Roockies, Broncos and Avalanche for me. Colorado is addicted to its sports, but the New York evil empire doesn't get a lot of venom there. If anything, we watch the Mets more."
