Baby Steps
Today was a big day for Mel and Alex was going to be there by her side the whole time. Today was the first day of physical therapy for her and Alex was going to play cheerleader for her. He'd even get pompoms and use them if it helped.

The day was going to start out on a good note. He made breakfast for her that included scrambled eggs, toast, some fresh fruit and freshly squeezed orange juice. They items were placed on a tray and he carried them to her room. He knocked on the door with a foot since his hands were full.

	Alex waited patiently for Mel to finish and when she was finished he removed the tray. "I'll take this to the kitchen while you get dressed. Then we're off to physical therapy." He smiled and kissed her cheek. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	And Mel is quietly cheerful as Alex wheels her down, and quietly cheerful as she greets the therapist and.... quiet, as they get started, with a frequent. "...kay," as something is suggested and Mel tries her best. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Alex watches and has to restrain himself from running over there and helping each times she stumbles or almost falls. He wills her to have the strength to do this as if would help in some way. 	By the time it was over Alex was extremely proud of Mel. She never gave up trying and not once did she complain. He was waiting with her chair and would wheel her back upstairs when she was ready. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Alex nodded and got crackers from the cupboard. "Here you go," he said. "I've been practicing and I'm now up to three and a half hours in human form. That means once you are done with you physical therapy regimen, we are going out for dinner and a movie." (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)
