I Will Be Watching and Waiting for You

Oh Lynch so wanted to kill Walker for this. He had called her up and told her it would be great if she could check out a site for him just outside of the city pasted Archer Ave.

Apparently there had been some type of creature sighting going on in the area and he had been getting a lot of doors slammed in his face when he had started asking questions about it. She had had slightly better luck in that department though the downpour outside had not been so lucky.

She had found out the general area where most people had seen the creature in the woods and spent an hour traipsing around in the freezing rain and mud finding nothing useful. After making a couple of colorful exclamations up to the sky she made her way back to her car.

Taking advantage of no one being around she quickly got changed out of her wet clothes and into some dry ones so that she would be a bit less angry as she drove her was back down Archer Ave and back into the city.

Driving a bit faster than she should down the Ave in the rain she rounds a corner and sees a young woman in a white dress in the road in front of her. Lynch quickly swerves to avoid hitting her and hits the brakes to stop her car.

Once she pulls her car over on the side of the road Karen gets out of the car and runs over to see if the woman was all right.

“Are you all right,” Karen asks the woman in what she now realizes is a rather pretty white party dress.
“Yeah,” the woman says weakly as if still in shock over all of this.

“What are you doing out in the middle of the road this time of night in weather like this,” Karen asks trying to find out a little bit more.

“I was walking back from a party,” the woman says not particularly forthcoming with information.

“How about I give you a ride home,” Karen says, “It’s the very least I could do all things considered and you won’t have to walk home in the rain like this.”

“Ok that sounds nice,” the woman says giving Karen a pretty smile.

“Ok come on let’s get going then,” Karen says gesturing towards the car for them to both get into.

After they both got in the car Karen asked where she should drop the young woman off at and was told up the road a ways there was a turn that she could drop her off at.

After a couple moments of silent Karen tried to start up some conversation again. “My names Karen what’s yours,” she asked.

“Mary, my name is Mary,” the woman in white says as if not entirely sure of herself.

“I like that name Mary,” She says, “So how come you couldn’t get a ride home from when of your friends?”

“Oh well I was at a party with my boyfriend we got into a fight and I just wanted to get out of there as fast as I could and just left,” Mary says.

“That must have been some fight to make you want to walk all the way home in this weather by yourself,” Karen says.

“Yeah,” She says unconsciously rubbing her forearm something that Karen notices.

“What happened to your arm,” Karen asks.”

“Oh nothing,” She says realizing what she had been doing.

“Listen you can trust me,” Lynch says, “Tell me what happened.”

Mary nervously bites her lip. “Remember that fight with my boyfriend I mentioned well it got a little by more violent and physical than I had let on. He normally a good guy but sometimes he just gets in into moods like this.”

“Mary that not good,” Karen says like a concerned friend, “You really should do something about this. If he’s had a history of doing this to you, you really should do something about it. I could help you press charges if you would like.”

Mary seems a little taken about by Karen reaction. “No that ok I’ll deal with this,” She says, “The turns just up ahead.”

“OK,” Karen says not too happy about Mary’s choice of how to deal with this. She then turns her car at the turn noticing a sign telling her she was entering Resurrection Cemetery.

“You can just drop me off at the front gates my home is not far from here,” Mary says.

“OK,” Karen says a little bit confused but does so anyways.

“Thank you so much for all your help,” Mary says getting out of the car giving Karen a smile before turning to walk away.

Karen starts to drive away but doesn’t go more than ten feet before she decides to get out and see if she can convince Mary to take her up on her offer to press charges and get help.

“Mary,” she calls out getting out of the car and into the rain only to found no one there not even in the distance. It was like she had disappeared without a trace as if she had never been there at all.
