Trips to see Grandpa William and Grandma Madeline were always taxing on the Drakes. They had to be on Grandpa William manners and behavior, which meant no teasing each other, no tormenting each other, no picking on each other, and no using powers. It was also the first time Grandpa William saw Cait's blue hair. She tried to explain that it wasn't a dye job and she couldn't dye it back to its normal color. It was just blue and it would be that way. Grandma Madeline loved it though and thought it was a very nice shade of blue.

Just when Cait thought things had calmed down, Dad had to mention that she had a boyfriend and Rufus had a girlfriend. The first reaction out of Grandpa William was him asking if they were normal. Of course they were normal if you counted being able to electrocute someone and being able to shapeshift as normals. Which the Drake kids did. Grandpa William didn't appreciate the fact that they were dating people who were like them.

Cait was relieved to be back at the mansion. Mom and Dad would be sticking around until April. It was the most hated time of the year for Dad. TAX SEASON. Which meant they all steered clear of Bobby Drake when he had a certain gleam in his eye.

She walked the grounds of the mansion. The cold air felt good and was quite refreshing. More importantly she was taking note of the snow and where would be the best positions for the upcoming snowball fight. It was Cait's favorite day of the year and she had started planning for this one last January 2nd.

Aaron was back from visiting his mom back home is had been just then for the start like it had usually been for years which he didn’t mind and he had hung out with some old friends for a bit.

His mom had a lot of business this time of year with everyone wanting desserts for the holidays and she had been recovering from that craziness when he had first gotten there so he took care of things for her till she was feeling more herself and not seeing Mincemeat pie recipes in her sleep.

His mom had invited his dad to show up for a few days. It was his first holiday out of jail and his dad rather hated his own family so it had been nice for him even if all of this was still rather awkward.

At one point they had gone some place secluded and played around with powers which had been fun. Aaron didn’t get to go and do that too often. It definitely helped to making things more comfortable between them all though it still had a very long way to go.

Aaron had gotten back earlier that morning and noticed Cait walking around outside and headed out there.

“Planning things out already are you,” Aaron said playfully to Cait.

"I'm glad Christmas is over," she said honestly. "The obligatory once a year visit is over and it went about normal for a Grandpa William visit. We heard a lecture about how we're pagans and godless heathens, which got the usual response from Corey and how we should all embrace the Christian religion. My blue hair well over oh so well. I think I heard how I should dye it back to a /normal/ color about twenty times. Then there were questions about you and if you were a /normal/ boy. So yeah about normal."

	“Not too bad, it was just me and mom for the beginning,” Aaron said, “Afterwards John, my dad came by for a while. Mom thought it would be a good idea since he didn’t really have anyone to spend the holidays with and it might help with the whole getting used to each other thing. "Thanks. By now we know what to expect, so dealing with it is easier. Grandpa William is a good man and we know he loves us, he just likes /normal/ which is exactly what we are not. It's almost expected now that he calls us pagans and godless heathens and Corey responding with a 'We're not pagans and we have /plenty/ of gods and goddesses.' I don't think it would be Christmas if certain things didn't happen."
