Marie Claire had run out of options.

The day after her arrival in this strange, hostile version of reality she had discovered that her dimension-jumping device was damaged.  A setback to be sure, but she was confident that it was something that she could simply fix--maybe pop the case open and reconnect a few wires before soldering it all together and heading home.  That proved to be a futile hope rather quickly and now, some months later, she was still unable to fix the device.  With Stevie's birthday having just passed the need to get home again had become even more reinforced; Not-The-Mama was bonding to Stevie while she, a girl used to a close relationship with her parents, had never felt more unwanted and alone.

It was a sobering feeling, as was the realization that she wasn't going to be able to fix this on her own.  Marie Claire realized she was going to have to go to the source of sorts: she was going to have to contact Hank Pym.  It was something she wasn't sure she wanted to do.  The shock of her parents not overcoming their challenges in this dimension was still fresh and raw on top of that was the discovery of a sister through the paternal line.  Certainly she knew of the sister she had through Jan, but Vernique wasn't present and even if she had been she sounded much like herself.  Chris...was a different animal entirely.  Pun intended.  But, getting home was important, more important than odd feelings and sad thoughts and fears so she gathered up her device and its parts and descended upon the lab of one Hank Pym.

She hoped the man didn't have a heart attack when he met her.  She did, after all, look exactly like her mother had at the same age.

"Have you considered duing something like this for non-mutants?" MC's brain was already clicking. She had Ideas.

"It's for everyone who needs it." Chris says proudly. "I want to develop a line of clothes one day for metahumans, not just the ones who want to go out and fight crime.

She raises an eyebrow as she puts a leather miniskirt into the press. "Do you have a plan? That is a Plan Face."

"No, it's an Idea Face. Van Dyne variant."

"Well give then. Don't leave a clothing scientist hanging." She smirks back.

This... this was nice.

"There are numerous applications for this that would be profitable. Maternity wear, for example. How badass would it be if you bought one pair of pants and that's it for the duration? Granted most women would want numerous pairs and in every color, but still. And bras? Oh, bras would be such a boon if they did the shifty stuff." She grabbed Chris by the shirt. "We could make millions. Billions, even."

Chris lets out a faint squeak at the suddenness of that. She briefly wondered if she was making a face like Corey did when she grabbed him sometimes.

"Uh... it's..." She fidgets awkwardly. "It's not really cost-effective yet... I mean, it helps out with some Avengers and the X-Men, the cool team by the way, but I don't know if it could really be rolled out for mass distribution." She shrugs as the press finishes on the skirt.

"Couture. It's not mass-produced, it's exceptionally expensive in regards to price point and rich women eat this shit up. They would gleefully spend thousands on a garment with the right label if it did magnificent things. Billions, Chris. Billions."

Chris blinks. She'd taken inspiration from and outright copied plenty of high-end fashion stuff, but she couldn't really say she ever understood it.

She looks between the machine and her dimensionally-challenged half-sister.

"...I can think of some things to do with billions."

A few hundred acres of rain-forest could certainly stand to be better protected.

Marie Claire did understand couture. She breathed it, lived it, wore it, decided what was in and what was out where she was from. She understood the mechanics behind the thread both literally and figuratively. It would be easy, almost too easy, to make this work.

"I need paper. I NEED PAPER RIGHT NOW!"

Goggles thrown aside, the redhead tore through Hank's lab in quest for the idea-refining fibers and perhaps a bit of ink to lay them down with.

Hank nearly jumped in surprise at the sudden request. "Ah... everything okay?"

He paused. "...Do I want to know what this is about?"

Marie was thinking jeans. Definitely jeans.

Hank's still feeling like he missed a step here somewhere. "But... that technology's never been practical for mainstream use."

"It doesn't have to be perfectly practical because what I'm thinking doesn't require it to have extensive use." She was sketching away furiously.
