Goddess's Day Out
Asleif continued to travel the world, occasionally rendering aide as she saw fit to those she saw fit to render it to. Which seemed all the more often these days. The world news was filled with reports of the odd mudslide which missed a village or a trail which stopped moments before a collision, and smaller, human interest stories of lost pets suddenly returning home.

But today was decidedly a day for herself, or at least, a day for friends, of which she had precious few.

She appeared in the lobby of the Fantastic Four's headquarters and informed the clockwork golem at the desk that she was here to see Vincent.

	He smiles, shrugging as he steps forward and puts a hand on her shoulder. "You deserve it. You've... worked hard to improve yourself, in light of what you've experienced. 	Odd. Vincent's hand had wavered a bit before settling on her shoulder. Had he been originally going to put it somewhere else? "I suppose you are correct," she said at last, smiling a bit again. Vincent smiles and pats her shoulder before withdrawing his hand, giving her a reassuring nod. "I won't lie... at first it was just because you were a wickedly pretty face, and Asgardian besides, but I truly value your company, Asleif."

He grins. "Now, as far as an early dinner goes, have you tried sushi yet?" He'd recalled that while she could put away as much as he could, if not more, she favored lighter fare over the steaks and occasional comfort food binges that he favored.

Vincent takes her by the hand and leads her from the shop, having been there enough that his information is on file. "Flattery comes easily when there is much to praise." He winks at her. The blush, on her fair skin, would be hard to miss, but he's not about to say anything about it.

"I think you'll find it most agreeable. It's typically raw fish pressed with rice, but there are various cooked or vegetable combinations as well." He walks her down the street towards the nearby restaurant district, in no particular hurry.

It reminds him of himself when he came to Manhattan for the first time. "So how have you been? I've been noticing... familiar elements in certain news clippings." He smirks at her. 	Vincent looks down for a moment, then up, at nothing in particular. "If not for some people in my life... I might. Kristoff, Lady Rahne, the Richards family... they've done more to shape me than I can likely even truly grasp; and at times I still haven't been able to live up to it." Vincent can't help but mutter under his breath. "Hopefully some of them more than others." He had gotten on quite nicely with Aridis when they met briefly, and he and Halbjorn had a mutual respect borne of their fight during one of the Empress incidents, but Lady Svalin... it had been a very long and tense moment before she turned her anger against those attacking Asgard.

"I think you need give yourself more credit for what you have become. There is perhaps more of you in yourself than there once was."

	"Nay," Asleif said. "As child, even into the early days of my studying, I was much more fascinated by tales of heroism..." She shook her head. 	Asleif smiled just a tiny bit. "Occasionally, my siblings would convince me to accompany them on some foolish errand or quest. Beyond that... I found time for a bit of mischief. The last bit, at least the way its stated, catches Vincent by surprise. He chides himself for it. She was certainly forward enough on their date, he shouldn't be surprised. She's older than him as well.

"In my case, outside of school and lessons in both magic and science, leaning more heavily towards the former, I took in much in the way of museums, concerts, clubs... more than occasional lovers." He coughs, possibly blushing slightly.

"Midgard is all but used up." He counters. "We have diversity, but perhaps not anything so robust as what the rest of the World Tree offers. Magic is disbelieved or reasoned away as fantasy or science, there are so few islands and distant shores left to chart, leaders are made by pen-strokes and coin-purses rather than by the strength of their arms or spells." He smirks. "And I can't remember the last time I had the chance to set out to slay a dragon. It's appalling really, the state of how little wonder is left."

A pause.

"Save for that which we make for ourselves." He seems content as he says that. "I think there is enough greatness in both our worlds that we need feel no less for being... new to the other." He nearly says 'unknown', in spite of having been born and partially raised in Asgard.

Being five years old is a very long time ago.

"And I am happy to share the wonders of this city with you, my dear friend." He grins. "Or any other you might grow curious about."

"Take it from someone who counts creative writing as one of his eternal nemeses. Endings are simple to write, it's the middle that's the challenge." Vincent chuckles.

There's a moment of thought before he takes her hand, tilting his head smiling at her as he gives it a playful squeeze.

"Your ending, whatever your grandfather said to you, is not who you are. You have miles and ages to go before then."
