2nd Date.
Mac showed up, wearing clean and decent but not fancy clothes, to pick up Andrea for their second date. It was hard not to smile at Roberta the receptionist like some kind of idiot.

Andrea arrived a moment later, also dressed quite casually.

She grinned happily and embraced Mac, planting a brief kiss on his lips. "Forgive my lateness. My hair was being most uncooperative."

"No problem," he says happily. "I totally know the feeling."

"Not much, and I didn't mind it. I hope you're ready to head out now, though. I'm getting a little hungry."

"I am ready," she assures him.

"Great." And off they will head to an excellent sandwich shop.

The trip over was quite pleasant. Andrea loves New York City dearly, and it shows, especially when she shares stories about those places or people she knows.

As the approach the sandwich shop, Andrea smiles. "If the food tastes half as good as it smells, I am very impressed."

And Mac listens with interest. And while he's willing to carry his end of the conversation and share his own stories, there's no impulse to make sure his are funnier, or more impressive because they're mostly cosmic or Atlantean.

"It's pretty close," he says, grinning. "Everything's fresh, and the sandwiches are huge. Usedta come here a lot in junior high." A pause. "Do you mind a personal question?"

"Of course, Mac," she replies. "You may ask me anything."

"You didn't have a junior high, right. You just started out developmentally our age? And if I'm getting that right, um....why?"

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

She nods. "I was developmentally an early teenager when I was first creative, but my personality matrix advanced rather quickly."

She goes on. "Some of it simply has to do with the construction of my personality matrix. Doctor Richards and Kristoff based it upon how my father's brain is organized, combining it with some ideas of their own. My father also believed I would be able to better fit in as I was, than as a more-child-like android."

"There were certainly some advantages," Andrea agrees. "Though I suspect I would have benefited as well."

2010-12-05 05:12 am UTC (link)
"Yeah...I sure don't know anything about personality matrices, but if it had to grow through those bits all by itself, you'd have had more time just hanging out with your dad before all the grown-up stuff, huh?"

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

[info]awesome_andrea
2010-12-05 05:35 pm UTC (link)
"Indeed," Andrea agrees. "The time I did have "growing up" as it was was quite wonderful, but more of it would have been very nice."

"I guess can see your dad's reasoning, though. Some parents might not be able to think through that much about what'd be easiest for you all told. He sounds like a really careful guy."
