Argo's Plan
Argo returned to the Champion's headquarters not long after his conversation with Pluto.  The consequences of his decision today would probably haunt him for some time, he knew, but he did not see how he could make any other decision.  The woman he loved was in hell, suffering torments that no one as pure and innocent as she should have to endure.

He would rescue her.  Because he was the hero.  And the hero always rescued their beloved, no matter where they were or what the hero had to go through to get there.  Because that was how the universe worked.

He would worry about paying the price when the time came.

He had his brother, Andy, and his worshiper, Corey.  There were no better he could ask to fight beside him this day, no better he could ask to accompany him into the bowels of the underworld itself.

"I thank you both," he said simply, "for what you do for me today.  I know not how I shall ever repay you."

"What he said. Either we all come back together or we don't come back. I'm not going to be the one to explain to father or grandfather that you didn't make back when I did." Andy says, his thoughts unconsciously going to the large tattoo that took up his entire right shoulder, pectoral and most of his right arm.

Argo was favored by Zeus. If something happened to him and Andy was the one to deliver the message, they'd probably blame him for it, no matter how little he had to do with it.

Argo nods. "Good," he says at last. "It is my hope, because Andy and I are of a divine nature, and because you, Corey, hold no belief in where we must travel, that we should have an easier time of passage there. But we must be prepared to battle creatures of the underworld all the same."

"If we are ready... we should go."

"Yeah. Not their jurisdiction, so they can't get psychological hooks in us. Just beat the living daylights out of us physically. Let's go."

"They're in for a very long and bad day if they want to do that, Corey." Andy tells him, applying a pair of final licks with a whetstone and putting the item away.

"I'm ready when the two of you are." Andy says, the Hephaestus-forged sword radiating a strange golden glow.

Andy has never seen it do that before now and isn't sure why it's happening, but maybe it's a sign that the gods favor them.

Yes, even him.

He does not deserve such friendship, those so willing to lay their lives and souls on the line for him.

But today, Argo is prouder than ever to stand beside Corey and his brother. Today, they shall storm the gates of hell itself.

"Then let us go."
