Family Vacation
With the right technology, the various offspring of Nathaniel Richards I were not terribly difficult to track down when he recalled their existence.

This time, he was after his favorite unacknowledged bastard. It had been more than a decade. The lad was doing well enough for himself, apparently. No more satisfaction about siring the absolute monarch of Latveria, though. Pity about that -- some sort of Matter of Honor, wasn't it? Boy must've gotten that from Mirela. Or, well, Doom himself, from a less genetic perspective.

But his thoughts were digressing again. Kristoff. And his little friends. In need of a visit. A treat. A bit of a warning. Currently in...the region of Orlando, Florida. Nathaniel, having prepared the equipment he'd need for this little excursion, materialized in one of the rooms of the resort suite in which they were staying. Seeing only Kristoff there, he at first said nothing and just smiled.

"I'm on it." Vincent replied. The evacuation was mostly underway, and should continue without his herding.

He descended to the ground and let his senses drift outwards. Emotions were his playthings, despite however much he tried to respect the free will of others. He could feel them under the rubble, panicked and terrified.

"There." He pointed to Cassie. "Under about ten feet of rubble, three adults." He pointed again, to another spot. "Five feet down, two adults and five children." The use of a minor illusion spell aided in 'painting' the landscape to keep track.

"Thanks." Cassie set to work clearing the debris without triggering a cascade that might kill any people trapped.

Of all the powers she wielded, Andrea found that she used the powers of Reed Richards the least often, compared to the powers of the other three original members of the Fantastic Four.

Now, however, she was making good use of those abilities, stretching herself into a comfortable slide for several people trapped on a high floor. While she could have used an invisible force field, it would have caused undue distress and she had found most people were uncomfortable being transported that way.

Kristoff and Doom continue stabilizing the most potentially-dangerous structures. And Kristoff focuses as much as he can on that, he really does, but...

He starts by addressing Doom's point. "We... argued, some years ago. It involved the Fantastic Four, actually, although that was not really the point... Sir? My mother... her counterpart, I mean, she... is well?"

"I see. And yes, when last I saw her. The herbalist shop is not far from the square." Beat. "And I am sorry for your loss, Vernard." It sounds sincere.

After another moment. "This should hold as much as possible for now."

After rescue workers were on scene in sufficient numbers, and the areas were secured, Vincent moved back near his brother with haste. He didn't want to leave him alone with the monster for any longer than he had to, no matter what version of him it was.

He alighted on the ground next to Kristoff, looking at Doom for a moment, before turning his head to the side sharply and folding his arms across his chest. "HMPH." He grunted.

Doom looks the young man over.
"I do not believe we have been properly introduced."
Beat. "I also presume that in your facet of reality, my obsession with the Fantastic Four did not end twenty-five years ago."

"You're among the greatest monsters our world at large knows, and on a more local level, the greatest." Vincent's reply is short and to the point. Well, as to the point as he's generally capable of. He does not make eye contact.

Kristoff, throughout this entire exchange, just stands there, his expression somewhere between pained and...absent.

That finally prompts Vincent to turn, glaring venomously at the older man.

"There were various hints in my earliest years, but the three years spent in his.. 'care'--" He practically spat out the word, fists clenched. "--were more than sufficient to drive the point home."

"I see. I of course cannot speak for any but myself, and only the self I know, but --" And Victor Von Doom cuts himself off. Because one does not offer sympathies or condolences to a Von Doom in such a way. Instead, he ceases holding Vincent's gaze and looks to Kristoff, another thought occuring to him in all this.

"Vernard....I did not do anything to your mother, did I?"

Kristoff shakes his head. "No, Sir. Not at all," Kristoff says quietly. "Vincent," he looks at his brother with concern, realizing even in the haze of his own near-fractured mind how upsetting this is for him. "Perhaps y -- we should get back to Cassandra and Andrea."

Doom makes a small gesture of acknowledgement. "I should look into a few matters elsewhere. I hope to see you before you leave, Vernard."

And with that, he takes off.

Once he's quite certain Doom is gone, Vincent's posture slumps, a ragged breath slipping out. He looks to Kristoff with a pained expression, almost expecting him to chase after the other man.

Kristoff makes no move to scamper like a puppy after the alternate Doom. Instead, he steps forward, puts his hands on his brother's shoulders, and looks at him earnestly. "Vincent. I know this is...vexing," he understates carefully to avoid 'accusing' him of hurting more. "But we'll be gone soon."

Yes, fairly soon. There's not much time to try to see his mother even if that wouldn't give the poor woman a heart attack, so he shoves the thought out of his mind.

"Mm." Vincent lets out a soft grunt and tilts his forehead to touch his brother's shoulder gingerly, before drawing himself up again, pinching the bridge of his nose to stave off a migraine. "We should rejoin the ladies." He starts to hover off the ground, waiting for Kristoff to follow.

From where she stood, having finished assisting the rescue workers for a moment, Andrea could likely have quite easily spied on Kristoff and Vincent's conversation with Doctor Doom. Her visual and auditory sensors were many times more advanced than a standard human's, after all.

But that would have been an invasion of privacy.

"What do you suppose they are discussing?" she asked Cassandra.

The boys soon touch down near them, and Kristoff steps right over to Cassandra, catching a little sight of the state of her arms, his hands reaching to carefully knead into them a little.

"Everything is as stable as we can make it over there for now," he says, still a touch of something weird and absent in his tone, "How is it over here?"

Cassie moaned a little. This was one of those times she really, really loved Kristoff.

"There are still a lot of people trapped in there." On the one hand, she knew Kristoff and Vincent would want to see more of Latveria and on the other, natural disaster area...

Vincent moved over to Andrea. She certainly wasn't as frail as Cassandra, but he wanted to check on her just the same, and he wanted her company right now especially. He held her hand as he stood at her side. "Is all proceeding well?"

All in all, he was fairly certain he preferred the era where dinosaurs were trying to eat them.
