Family Vacation
With the right technology, the various offspring of Nathaniel Richards I were not terribly difficult to track down when he recalled their existence.

This time, he was after his favorite unacknowledged bastard. It had been more than a decade. The lad was doing well enough for himself, apparently. No more satisfaction about siring the absolute monarch of Latveria, though. Pity about that -- some sort of Matter of Honor, wasn't it? Boy must've gotten that from Mirela. Or, well, Doom himself, from a less genetic perspective.

But his thoughts were digressing again. Kristoff. And his little friends. In need of a visit. A treat. A bit of a warning. Currently in...the region of Orlando, Florida. Nathaniel, having prepared the equipment he'd need for this little excursion, materialized in one of the rooms of the resort suite in which they were staying. Seeing only Kristoff there, he at first said nothing and just smiled.

Cassie's first reaction was one of horror but she quickly set that emotion aside and went to work. She had to find a secure spot to grow, and one with room where she could set rubble aside without accidentally crushing someone.

A quick survey of the battleground and the panicking citizens, and Vincent soars into action, moving himself to a tactically advantageous position. "CIVILIANS, REMAIN CALM!" An illusion spell buffs his voice to be heard over the chaos, and an enchantment covers the language barrier, along with giving his words a bit more 'selling' power.

He gestures, and lights shine brightly over the safest evac routes. "Proceed with evacuation, rescue efforts are underway!" He starts weaving a wide area compulsion spell, to hopefully keep the people from trampling one another as they fall in line with the prescribed routes.

Kristoff's first instinct looks to the people trapped on the bridge, as well. The alternate Doom's repulsors -- which are admittedly a bit better than Kristoff's -- are indeed stabilizing most of the cracks in the pylons, there's a lot that could crumble before the people are all off. So Kristoff immediately takes to the air and does what he can handling the points Doom missed, and finds himself saying quickly "Sir, three degrees higher would probably help!" The anxiety of how Doom will take correction is buried under the importance of the situation.

"So it would," Doom answers calmly as he adjusts his armor's actions accordingly and they buy further time for those fleeing the bridge to not be crushed or dropped.

If he notices any surprise on Kristoff's part, it does not show. They are kind of busy, of course. But once there's nothing left to do but hold for a minute or two more, he asks, almost with bored politeness. "I must admit, Vernard, I'm curious as to why you spoke of a quarrel with you specifically. Your counterpart is...not the sort of person who inspires quarrels, so I find myself wondering if mine becomes enraged when your mother raises the price of her headache tea."

Andrea, it would seem, is getting quite a bit of use out of Susan Richards' powers today. By casting waves of invisible energy, she was able to effective look under any pile of rubble she came across. Following that, she could expand an invisible force field to scoop the rubble away.

Here and there, she would briefly stop and switch to Johnathan Storm's powers, siphoning off stray flames into her body and then dispersing the heat.

"Do not worry," she said as she helped a family from the rubble. "We are here to help."

Cassie was about to go to the bridge but one of the nearby buildings started to collapse. She barely had time to grow and grab it.

"This is so very temporary." She grumbled. "Andrea, can you see if anybody's in here?"

Vincent hates situations like this. It's not as if he's averse to aiding in rescue operations, quite the contary. He simply feels more alive in battle when it comes to having something to hit or bewitch, like their clash with the Super Skrull.

He continues flying around, herding the citizens like so much sheep, using a touch of compulsion here and there to override any skittishness that might send them back into unsafe hiding or in the wrong way.

As his flight path takes him without augmented shouting distance of his brother and Doom, he yells out a demand for information, his tone more than a little harsh. "Projections on continued tremors?"

Kristoff tries to observe the relevant phenomena and calculate the Omori and Gutenberg-Richter formulas in his head while steadying the bridge and his mother is alive here.

"Minor ones, brother, probably a handful scattered over the next few hours," he calls over, his voice no doubt odd.

Andrea ran a sensor scan, along with seemingly peeling back layers of the building with invisible energy.

"It is empty, Cassandra," she said. "You may let it drop."

"The least stable areas seem to be clearing well," Doom looks to the young man, Vernard's brother apparently. The resemblance was not strong. "Those already trapped are the priority in the face of minor aftershocks," he says calmly. "Best to assist...Andrea, was it?" He thought he'd heard that from a distance.

Cassie had to be careful when she let the building crumble, carefully letting it collapse in on itself instead of outward.

"I could use some help looking for survivors." She called to Vincent. As useful as her powers could be in this situation, she didn't want to waste time searching ruins where there weren't any survivors.

"I'm on it." Vincent replied. The evacuation was mostly underway, and should continue without his herding.

He descended to the ground and let his senses drift outwards. Emotions were his playthings, despite however much he tried to respect the free will of others. He could feel them under the rubble, panicked and terrified.

"There." He pointed to Cassie. "Under about ten feet of rubble, three adults." He pointed again, to another spot. "Five feet down, two adults and five children." The use of a minor illusion spell aided in 'painting' the landscape to keep track.

Of all the powers she wielded, Andrea found that she used the powers of Reed Richards the least often, compared to the powers of the other three original members of the Fantastic Four.

Now, however, she was making good use of those abilities, stretching herself into a comfortable slide for several people trapped on a high floor. While she could have used an invisible force field, it would have caused undue distress and she had found most people were uncomfortable being transported that way.

Kristoff and Doom continue stabilizing the most potentially-dangerous structures. And Kristoff focuses as much as he can on that, he really does, but...

He starts by addressing Doom's point. "We... argued, some years ago. It involved the Fantastic Four, actually, although that was not really the point... Sir? My mother... her counterpart, I mean, she... is well?"

"I see. And yes, when last I saw her. The herbalist shop is not far from the square." Beat. "And I am sorry for your loss, Vernard." It sounds sincere.

After another moment. "This should hold as much as possible for now."

After rescue workers were on scene in sufficient numbers, and the areas were secured, Vincent moved back near his brother with haste. He didn't want to leave him alone with the monster for any longer than he had to, no matter what version of him it was.

He alighted on the ground next to Kristoff, looking at Doom for a moment, before turning his head to the side sharply and folding his arms across his chest. "HMPH." He grunted.

"You're among the greatest monsters our world at large knows, and on a more local level, the greatest." Vincent's reply is short and to the point. Well, as to the point as he's generally capable of. He does not make eye contact.

That finally prompts Vincent to turn, glaring venomously at the older man.

"There were various hints in my earliest years, but the three years spent in his.. 'care'--" He practically spat out the word, fists clenched. "--were more than sufficient to drive the point home."

"I see. I of course cannot speak for any but myself, and only the self I know, but --" And Victor Von Doom cuts himself off. Because one does not offer sympathies or condolences to a Von Doom in such a way. Instead, he ceases holding Vincent's gaze and looks to Kristoff, another thought occuring to him in all this.

"Vernard....I did not do anything to your mother, did I?"
