Family Vacation
With the right technology, the various offspring of Nathaniel Richards I were not terribly difficult to track down when he recalled their existence.

This time, he was after his favorite unacknowledged bastard. It had been more than a decade. The lad was doing well enough for himself, apparently. No more satisfaction about siring the absolute monarch of Latveria, though. Pity about that -- some sort of Matter of Honor, wasn't it? Boy must've gotten that from Mirela. Or, well, Doom himself, from a less genetic perspective.

But his thoughts were digressing again. Kristoff. And his little friends. In need of a visit. A treat. A bit of a warning. Currently in...the region of Orlando, Florida. Nathaniel, having prepared the equipment he'd need for this little excursion, materialized in one of the rooms of the resort suite in which they were staying. Seeing only Kristoff there, he at first said nothing and just smiled.

"...Clarify 'a while', please, Vincent," Kristoff says quietly, with a bemused expression.

Vincent would have turned to glare, but he was focusing on the spell. "Quite long enough, I would imagine, to ride out this sadistic little foray your deranged progenitor has arranged." He grumbled, wanting to shake his hand free of the sensation, but holding fast.

"Not his fault." By this she meant It was reflex to defend him, she knew Vincent didn't mean anything- seeing as his own father (and mother) were villains.

As if having one asshole for a father was bad enough, Kristoff had to have two.

"If we could pause in our arguments for a moment," Andrea said, "I calculate a 23% chance--and rising--that we will have to use force to defend ourselves."

A dinosaur made a jumping, stumbling lunge for their floating platform.

"30%," she corrected.

"Noted, Andrea." Kristoff unzipped the suitcase again and removed other components of his armor and weaponry to strap on.

Vincent snorted. "Winds, surge!" The tingling shot up his arm, a slight measure of discomfort showing on his face. It wasn't painful, but it wasn't likable either. The winds increased in strength, raising the group higher.

"Save your energy, and spare the surroundings. Our next environs may be much more hostile than some limp-armed theropods."

"Vincent, when you say long enough do you mean ten minutes or 'I have no idea' because I don't want to be a splat on the ground." She's the only one among them who doesn't fly, she can have these worries.

"Do not worry, Cassandra," Andrea said. "Even if Vincent is unable to maintain his spell, there are a number of distinct possibilities to keep you from falling. All with a 70% chance or better of succeeding."

"We have been here approximately 54.7 minutes," she added.

Kristoff knelt to put his boots on. "One fourth of the way through this particular wait."

"It's not a matter of power..." Vincent admitted through gritted teeth. "It's a matter of... wrangling, I suppose might be an apt term. Magic feels differently here. It doesn't know man's touch yet." The tingling was still merely a strong nuisance, but it was certainly distracting.

By the time Kristoff's finished getting his armor on, another problem comes swooping in.

Our Heroes have been floating high enough to catch the interest of Pteranodons.

Kristoff simultaneously steps to Cassandra, wrapping an arm around her waist, and charging up the other gauntlet.

"Thanks, Kris." Cassie put one arm around Kristoff as well, just in case something happened that would might make him lose his grip. Like, say, that diving Pteranadon. "Try not kill it."

If only she were on the ground. She was useless up here.

Though she continued to maintain the platform, Andrea brought her other hand up and pointed in the general direction of one of the Pteranodons. She flicked her wrist, like throwing a dart and one of the flying lizards reacted as though it had been hit by something.

Invisible force spheres made rather effective weapons.

"They are beginning to swarm," she observed.

Vincent wanted to go into combat, but he needed to sustain the spell. "Andrea, seal us up the rest of the way once they're closest together. I'll throw the whole apparatus at them."

"Clarify that plan, please, Vincent?" Kristoff asks, although the warning shot at an oncoming pteranodon does drive it into tighter space with the others.

"I'm going to send us straight through the flock. They're hardly trapped, so a direct show of force should repel them." Vincent shakes his head, the tingling from the magical feedback beginning to become even more of a nuisance.

"We are not grounded enough within this. It sounds rougher on us than frightening to them." He clutches Cassie a little tighter. The flock backs off for a moment from a quick series of repulsor usage. "Andrea, please do close up as best you can, but Vincent, any further elevation should be relatively controlled."

Vincent grumbles. "Fine, you fight them off then. Damned disobedient magic..." He hisses in frustration, hardly talking to Kristoff anymore. He can keep this up for hours, but he'd really rather not.

"I think we should go back down- away from the herd." Maybe it was her fear of heights talking. Not that she was afraid of heights but when you happened to be up this high it was hard not to be.

"The force sphere is now completely enclosed," Andrea reported. "With three breathing individuals and the size of the sphere, I have created several small airholes. The dinosaurs should not be able to find their way in through them."

Vincent complied. "Enough of this, we avoid them then." He adjusts the velocity of the gale-force winds, tilting the enclosure slightly as it begins to move away from the flying nuisances. The tingling in his arms was beginning to make him loose feeling in his fingers.
