Family Vacation
With the right technology, the various offspring of Nathaniel Richards I were not terribly difficult to track down when he recalled their existence.

This time, he was after his favorite unacknowledged bastard. It had been more than a decade. The lad was doing well enough for himself, apparently. No more satisfaction about siring the absolute monarch of Latveria, though. Pity about that -- some sort of Matter of Honor, wasn't it? Boy must've gotten that from Mirela. Or, well, Doom himself, from a less genetic perspective.

But his thoughts were digressing again. Kristoff. And his little friends. In need of a visit. A treat. A bit of a warning. Currently in...the region of Orlando, Florida. Nathaniel, having prepared the equipment he'd need for this little excursion, materialized in one of the rooms of the resort suite in which they were staying. Seeing only Kristoff there, he at first said nothing and just smiled.

Vincent looked around with a scowl. If they'd come here of their own volition, he'd be eager to go see dinosaurs. As things were, he was livid, and the silence was highly unnerving.

He held Andrea's hand as he spoke, sensing her corresponding unease. "I suppose this is his deranged notion of teaching us something."

"I think we should move. I doubt that he cares about our own safety, he's probably set us here because he knows something will run into us. I'd really rather not punch a dinosaur." She paused. "Although seeing one would be really, really cool." Yeah she'd seen Jurassic Park but dude, dinosaurs.

"I concur." He unzips the suitcase briefly to get out his gauntlets and slip them on, intending to put the rest of the armor on at a better location. He also packs away the transmat receiver before looking to the others. "Are the two of you all right?" he asks, concerned.

Andrea gave Vincent's hand a reassuring squeeze, as much to reassure herself as him.

"I will be all right," she said, after a moment. "I am simply finding the lack of electronic signals disconcerting."

The contents of Kristoff's suitcase were like small crickets chirping away within a vast and engulfing night, but it gave her something else to focus on, to help ground her. She was used to a constant flow of information and connections to the outside world, to have that suddenly cut off...

Vincent, for his part, took stock of what he had on him, going through his pockets. "I've got a general purpose interface card," the same one he'd used on Andrea earlier that day,"my usual portable toolkit, a global rangefinder in my watch that doesn't rely on satellites, and you can salvage the magnetic strips from my credit cards for base material if necessary. I'm fairly certain my magic will still function in this era though. I can teleport us anywhere within my usual range."

He glanced around, still holding onto Andrea. "Shall I assume that you don't want me foraging for ritual components for a chronal displacement spell?"

"Hold on," Cassie said. "He said we'd be returned to exactly the time as we left. He may be a jerk but I don't think he's lying. I don't want us to try going back on our own unless we have to."

"Those spells are imprecise in circumstances like these, even moreso than trying to reconfigure the available material."
Kristoff nods at Cassie's statement. "Then we wait it out."
And walking, it can start to happen.

In the distance, there's a sound in the air that strangely resembles flutes.

Andrea's head snapped in the general direction of the flutes. "There should not be anything capable of making music like that at this point in history," she said.

She considered a point, "Unless the Flintstones was more accurate that I have been led to believe."

Vincent shook his head. "Most certainly not. Stand back everyone." Too risky to fly up and make oneself an easy target for... whatever, better to stay land-bound and with the others.

He moved to put himself between the others and the direction of the noise, gesturing delicately with his hands and speaking a spell quietly. He then moved his palms, fingers crooked, forward, and the greenery looked as if it had been cleanly cut away. The tunnel through the foliage started moving away from them, revealing further and further into the distance.

There are eventually, as some of the ridiculously tall trees in teh distance fade away, some four-ton Corythosauri visible. And agitated. And starting to not just call but move.

Cassie was about to tell Vincent to try and minimize their influence on this place.

Then she saw the dinosaurs.

"Wow."

Kristoff stares for just a moment, then. "They are signalling each other, I think. I suspect it is not about something positive."

Andrea's eyes widened in surprise at the dinosaurs, even as other programs went to work recording data.

"I will attempt to analyze for patterns. I may be able to reproduce the sound to drive them away."

"Kristoff... I believe we must have a very long and violent talk with your father." Vincent grimaces as he cuts off the invisibility.

"I've no interest in derailing this timestream into another alternate, god knows they're miserable to catalogue, so I suggest we refrain from lethal force against any of the wildlife."

Weaving in and out of temporarily-invisible trees, the dinosaurs are still lumbering towards them.

"We either need to run really fast or I need to get big really fast and grab you three." Cassie said, tugging Kristoff away from the hulking herd of dinosaurs.

"No objections, little brother."

Kristoff moves when indicated, but has some other considerations. "Andrea, how long can you stably maintain a sturdy forcefield grounded in one place?" he asks.

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"Provided the force inflicted upon it is not excessive, I can maintain a force field for roughly an hour before mechanical fatigue begins to set in," Andrea replied. "Maximum distance is roughly one mile before energy transmission begins to weaken."

"I believe the sound of 'excessive' force is already inbound." Vincent grumbles, raising a hand to his mouth. "I'll get us airborne and halve your work-load. Just keep a plate of force underneath, with at least a bit of a rim for safety."

He bit down into his left thumb, breaking the skin. This wasn't his forte, so supplying a bit of extra power seemed prudent. He drew the rune for wind on his right palm, energy crackling around his hand as the spell neared completion. "Standing by."

Despite the Four's moving while conducting this conversation, whatever has the dinsoaurs agitated is widespread enough to bring it to a bit of an encroaching stampede.

Kristoff listens to Andrea, then nods at Vincent's suggestion. "Let's go with that for now," he concurs, making sure they're all standing near each other.

Andrea nodded and activated Susan Richards template. She held her hands out, shaping the invisible force into a platform, followed by a safety rim about waist height.

"Force field is in place. Proceed when ready."

"Into the sky!" Vincent yelled, slamming his hand down. Gale force winds howled as they dove down from the sky, coalescing beneath the Four and then carrying the platform up. It wasn't the smoothest flight, but it was fast.

Kristoff stood in as stable a position as possible as they surged up and was soon looking over the stampeding dinosaurs, a few of whom looked up curiously at the small, floating figures very briefly before continuing in the frightened herd.

"We should be fine...,depending on what frightened them."
