Revelations (after the drone attack)
Cassidy got the call to come to Mr. Summers' office and wondered what it could be about. Yes, he'd gotten a little banged up during the attack on the school, but he was all right. He didn't think he'd done anything to warrant being called in, but he'd try to keep an open mind before he freaked out.

He knocked on the door to the office and waited to be admitted.

	Scott would be the first person to admit he was not skilled at being the bearer of bad news. Or good news, for that matter. But how exactly did one drop a bombshell like this on a kid? Cassidy couldn't imagine what Mr. Summers was talking about. Doctor McCoy did a full physical upon him when he arrived, as well as testing his powers. Was he going to get worse or better?

And what did he mean about his family.

"With all due respect, sir, my parents gave me away to Doctor Millbury for money. I...thought about asking you to use Cerebro to find them, but I don't know if I want to know them now. They gave me away when I was a baby." Cassidy says sadly.

"I'm sorry, sir. Please go on." he says.

Cassidy heard the words, but they didn't quite register. He ran them over in his head several times, trying to make sure he didn't misunderstand.

"So...that means that /you're/ my uncle? And, if Anastasia is your daughter, she's my cousin? And Rachel, too?" Cassidy asks, the shock setting in.

He took several deep breaths as he tried to process this information.

"Your brother is my dad? You said that you two don't talk much. Did you tell him about me? Or Miss Cassidy?" Cassidy asks.

Suddenly, he realizes something. Cassidy. Summers.

It was there in his name all along. Dr. Millbury simply referred to him by his parents' surnames.

The young man sat in the chair, shell-shocked, as he tried to think of something to say.

After several minutes, he looks up at Scott again.

"Do I have any other family members I don't know about? I want to know everything." he says.

Truthfully, Scott was still trying to wrap his mind around the situation himself. But there was little he would not put past Sinister. Protecting Rachel from that madman has always been one of his highest priorities.

"I am, and they are," he agreed.

"A few," he tells Cassidy. "Your grandfather, mine and Alex's father, Christopher Summers, is still alive, though he lives out in space. And Theresa's father, Sean, is still alive as well.

Alex and his wife, Lorna, have a son, your half-brother, Andrew. You have other cousins too, my son, Nathan, my... other daughter, Rachel. And Nathan has a daughter of his own, Beatrice, as well as an adopted daughter named Hope. The Summers side of the family is rather complicated, I'm afraid."

He left out his own particular thoughts on Andrew. A good kid, but ultimately following a path Scott didn't approve of.

"There's a great uncle, Tom Cassidy, but the less said of him, the better."

"I have...a brother?" Cassidy asks, stunned. He'd always wanted a brother or a sister, and now he really had one. He wondered what Andrew was like and if they could be friends. Was he older or younger?

He also had grandfathers, one of who lived in /space/. That was cool beyond words. And his other grandfather was still alive, too.

His father wasn't married to his mother anymore, which bothered Cassidy for reasons he couldn't say. Did they break up because of him? Other cousins, too? Another Rachel, Beatrice and Hope. Sure, it was a lot of family, but that didn't bother Cassidy at all. Every member of his family that he gains is one more than he didn't have ten minutes ago.

He commits these names to memory for later.

Cassidy finds himself most curious about this Uncle Tom Cassidy, but he doesn't say anything about it just now. Uncle Scott (wow, that was going to take some getting used to) didn't seem to like talking about him.

"Do we have family reunions or gatherings?" he asks.

Cassidy knocks on Izzy's door a couple of hours after his meeting with (Uncle) Scott. He still couldn't wrap his head around that...or any of the other stuff he'd learned.

Izzy's pretty good at cheering him up. Oh, and he still has to ask her to the Fall Formal, when he's sure he won't accidentally mute himself.

He waits for Izzy to answer, hoping she's not out hanging with Zak or some of her other friends.

He looks terrible, like he's been crying, but he tries on a smile anyway.

"Hey, do you have a minute? Tina's not around and...I didn't have anyone else I could talk to. Izzy, I found out about my parents, but it's good and it's bad.

It's probably worse than bad, actually." he says, sighing deeply, then he has a thought. This isn't Izzy's problem. He shouldn't be bothering her with this.

"You know what? Never mind. I need to deal with this. It's not your problem." he says, turning to go.

Cassidy stops and thinks it over. Leaving would be rude, but was it right to unload all of this on her?

Tina would want him to trust other people, right?

"Okay." he says, walking into her room. He finds a spot on the floor and leans back against the wall, putting his head in his hands.

"So, it's not a coincidence that my last name is Summers. Mr. Summers is my uncle. His brother Alex is technically my dad...except he's really not. Doctor Milbury, the guy I was staying with is really named Sinister and...he might have made me in a lab to use against the Summers family." Cassidy tells her.

	Izzy shut the door behind her, sitting down next to him on the floor. "Oh, Cassidy..." Izzy couldn't think of anything else to say. She wrapped her arms around him. He lets her hug him, though he doesn't hug her back right away, because he knows he'll start crying if he does, and he's /not/ going to cry in front of Izzy.

"Yeah. Uncle Scott says he doesn't get along with his brother very well, so my chances of meeting him are pretty much slim and nil. And really, what can I say? 'Hi, sir, I'm supposed to be your son, but you've already got one that you had with your wife. You and my mother probably never even dated or met, and I was made in a lab by a crazy person." Cassidy says.

Suddenly, he chuckles a bit.

"Wow, that even sounds crazy when /I/ say it."

	Cassidy nods and opens her door, leading her out of her building and to the main building to get to the Records' Room. Cassidy blinked. He didn't actually expect Izzy to be able to pick a lock. It just seemed so...not her.

"That was so hot." Cassidy says before he realizes what he just said and blushes in embarrassment. He's tries to stammer out an apology, but his words have no sound to them.

He's muted him. Again.

His shoulders slump and he heads into the File Room, going to look through the C section.
