The Long Way Home
Ohu Amane means "Sees Danger" in Twi, the modern language of the Ashanti, and the name is quite appropriate. The eldest son of Anansi, Ohu was gifted with the ability to see danger. He used this power to help save his father from a giant river monster (with a little help from his siblings, he supposes). He knows when there's serious trouble.

But he's never had a chance to really explore the realms of mortals before. He's always been kept at home, in the realm of the Ashanti gods. Which was boring. His father being the keeper of all stories, Ohu has heard all the stories from the mortal realms, and he finds them fascinating. Of course, these days, there are more stories coming into his father's realm than ever before -- a person can't keep up! So Ohu finally convinced his father to let him come to the mortal realm*, accompanied by other gods, the children of Asgardians.

This should be a most exciting expedition! They've already shown up in Oklahoma, surrounded by wheat. If they can just find a cornfield, he's sure there will be evil there. There's always evil in cornfields in the stories.

But the field gives way to a road, and Ohu, the guide for his friend Asgardians, choses a way and begins walking it. They are heading for New York, and certainly all roads must lead to New York eventually.

The occasional car or truck passing by, Ohu leads them down the road, over two bridges, and into the city apparently named "Kingfisher." Around them, the populace gives the gods strange looks.

"You see, my friends? I have lead us to a place where we may acquire transportation to the glorious city of New York!"

*If, by "convinced his father," one means, "ran away without telling him."

"Ohu doth have a point. 'Tis sometimes the journey that doth make for a more interesting tale." Not that Svalin would have to actually walk the whole way. She did have a faithful mount after all.

"But such places like this are so...Bland. Adventure would be far in between," Aridis notes with a barely there sigh. She would rather they be filled with action of some kind right now.

She's bored with travel.

Asleif let out a dramatic sigh. Sometimes, one simply had to taken action.

She began to weave a spell in the air, her hands tracing certain sigils as she called upon the forces at her command. Magic did not come quite so easily away from the golden realm, but it was potent all the same.

"Stand closely now... for we are about to depart!" She let the spell fly from her hands, instantly bridging the space between cities.
