Trying to Sort Things Out
Kristoff sent a message to SHIELD. Full Disclosure. Doom was not in Latveria, and the Doombot signals had apparently been hijacked.

Then he got to work trying to raise Atlantis on the communcations system. Even once a signal got through the general difficulties connections with Atlantis sometimes did, it was something of a wait for anyone of the techs on the other end to be willing to take a call coming from Doomstadt right now. Even then, it some work to get someone to take "Please put His Majesty or Her Highness through as soon as possible. No, this is not a trick, this is Kristoff Vernard of the Fantastic Four" seriously.

	Vincent's eyes widen, and he almost throws a spell on reflex, but realizes that would just make matters worse. He braces himself, such as one can in midair, and produces his staff to parry the sword, hoping to knock it away from her. "I didn't attack anything! 	Kassia wasn't taking kindly to this, for a man whose nation had invaded her own and stole her father he was way too...indignant. "AND MINE IS PRINCESS KASSIA, FIST OF ATLANTIS!" She met his swing with her sword, grip tight. "WHERE IS MY FATHER? Your treachery will not stand!" She abandoned the sword now and instead lunged at him bare-handed. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

The hand ends up on his throat, and it's certainly uncomfortable, but he doesn't feel as though his life is immediately in danger. Vincent almost responds in turn, but the thoughts of grabbing someone by the neck himself are like a cold shower. He settles for grabbing her by the collar of her shirt and keeping her at arm's length.

"Assigning ourselves titles? Isn't that just a little juvenile?" He retorts, trying to twist his neck free. "And I don't know who or where your father is!"

Vincent swings out an arm behind him, breaking the tree and bringing it down on both of them. They end up tangled in the branches, still grappling with each other.

"I was negotiating alchemic theory and advanced mechanical engineering when you were telling boys they had cooties!" Now it's just devolving.

"I DON'T KNOW, SURT-TAKE-IT-ALL!"

The gear clicks. "Wait... Namor?"

And Kristoff has finally made it there. "Vincent! Let go of Miss Mackenzie's shirt. Your Highness, please, I have your sister on the communication lines, since you have little reason to trust us initially, but if you would remove your hand from my brother's throat, I would be most grateful. I offer my profound apologies -- " For putting his brother in the same thought as 'diffuse the situation,' no matter how preoccupied with disarming the security systems he was. "For the misunderstanding. And the language." Another breath as he surveys the scene. "I am Kristoff Vernard of the Fantastic Four; we worked with Marrina the last time your father went missing. We believe the signals of those Doombots were hijacked."

Kassia had managed to start banging (albeit weakly) Vincent's head against the ground, screaming that she was not a harpy, when Kristoff shows up. Kassia does stop, but is reluctant for a few moments to release Vincent's throat.

"I...damnit." Letting Vincent go, she stands up and starts plucking leaves from her hair.

"You are damn lucky my guard didn't disembowel you," she hissed at Vincent before turning her attention to Kristoff. "You have been speaking to my sister?"

Vincent releases her and then stands up, removing branches and leaves from his hair and clothing. "HMPH." He rubs his throat briefly, before making his staff vanish with a puff of brimstone.

"Oh yes," He responds under his breath. "--because you were making such grand headway. I daresay the fight would have been yours when I grew tired in a few days."

He clears his throat and speaks up. "Kristoff, I apologize. I attempted to smooth over the situation, but apparently was unable to sufficiently convey such to her highness."

To Kassia. "Yes. Clearing things up with Atlantis was one of our first priorities once we arrived and discovered the situation. You were simply apparently faster than we. But now that we have a chance to straighten things out, it is of course imperative that we do not play into the enemy's hands, and instead focus on finding out who the enemy is. I can put you on the line with Marrina -- I am afraid Dr. Doom prefers other forms of communication signals to be a little unreliable in the general atmospheric charge near the castle."

To Vincent. "My own fault, brother. When I asked you to diffuse the situation, I should have specified it be done in an informative but unpatronizing manner." And a little softer, "Judging by the vambraces, phral, this is the Atlantean equivalent of calling out the Einherjar. Please stop trying to belittle her out of pride."

	Kassia continued to glare at Vincent for several moments before her expression softened ever so slightly for Kristoff. "I would like to speak to my sister, please." It was either that or punch Vincent and if Marrina was in fact on the line...she doubted Marrina would be okay with that course of action. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Vincent gives Kristoff a look of acknowledgment and then turns to Kassia. "Your highness, I offer my apologies for the confrontation, and, along with my brother, volunteer all our available resources towards resolving this situation." He bows slightly, crossing one arm across his chest.

On the outside anyway. On the inside he's got his arms folded and he's rolling his eyes as he says all that.

	Vincent raised an eyebrow. He knew threats. Threats were familiar to him. That was... something else. He gave her a parting bow. "I wish you a safe journey home, your highness."
