A Tale of Two Spiders
"Spider-Man" slams into the side of car, having been hit by the fifth or sixth pumpkin bomb of the evening. He hated whoever threw the damn bomb, and he definitely hates the gang-bangers that tricked him here. They knew they couldn't beat him with all their guns and numbers, so they hired a mask to stop him.

That angers him enough to want to kill this one and he will...as soon as his head stops spinning.

His Spider-Sense goes crazy the moment he stumbles to his feet and he leaps up and to his right, clinging to the side of a building as he escapes the next pumpkin bomb. The car that broke his fall explodes in a hunk of metal and cinders, and he fires a webline at the maniac on the glider.

The gawkers below are innocent people and this Jack-O-Lantern will pay dearly for those deaths.

He just needs to stay alive long-enough for that to happen.

	The bombs are getting tiresome. The next one that comes at him is intercepted in mid-flight by a webline and slung back in the direction of the flying person. Meanwhile, Ben tries to get to higher ground so that he can keep her attention off the people below. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	To his credit, he hangs on for a full minute longer than he might have otherwise. Eventually, though, Jack O'Lantern shakes him off, and he flies through the glass widow of a building and slams into a desk. He tries to get to his feet, but both Ben and the symbiote are dazed and not in a position to defend themselves at the moment. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	They blink in unison, unsure he saw that right. Him? Here? It was enough to make them want to kill...wait. No...not him. Her. There's a snarl from inside the mask as Venom sights on the web-slinger. Even with the sensation of his Spider-Sense, which is still very new to him, they are unable to dodge that webline. The yank forces them to drop the woman, whose throat is bruised from where they grabbed her.

They immediately reasserts control of their balance, however, dropping into a crouch as the symbiote slides the webbing off of them.

Now they simply watch Spider-Girl for her next move.

	This time, they obey their sense and effortlessly dodge away from the fired line, firing off one of their own in mid-air on the way toward the ground. They leads her on a merry chase through New York, past the Hudson River, through Hell's Kitchen, and past St. Mary's Cathedral.

Their route takes them near the piers, and down a narrow street, until they come to an alley off the beaten path.

Sure enough, there is a body at the end of the alley as well.

Not-Spidey lands and waits for her, clinging to a wall.

"Why did you save the killer?" they ask, their resonant double-voice both curious and cautious.

They nod at May in understanding and turn to go to the edge of alley.

"We understand you. We bear you no malice, but we will defend ourselves by any means necessary and we will not be as kind, either." they say, firing a webline, but not swinging away.

"You are Spider-Girl and we are Venom. But we also know who is under that mask, May. And we will not be so kind to /them/, either, if you stand in our way." he says, slipping around the corner.

Spider-Girl froze. Shit.

Someone knew who she was. She didn't know how,but they did. It didn't just put her at risk, it put her dad, her mom, Ben, Aunt May, hell even, Mel in harm's way. Everyone that could be tied to her was in trouble.

Spider-Girl stood there, shaking for a few minutes.

She had to figure out who this person was. She had to stop them. Her Spider-Sense was telling her that it was someone she knew, but she had no friggen clue as to WHO knew that she was Spider-Girl.

She swung off into the night, determined to do some good old-fashioned detective work when she got back to the brownstone.
