Since Vincent had started dating more than a year ago, Kristoff has been far from entirely happy with his approach to it. But he's almost always done little more than the most rudimentary hall-monitoring, trying to be grateful that at least he knew all the fairly-interchangeable girls were willing.

This time, though, not long after speaking to Andrea, he's standing waiting when Vincent gets home, his expression serious. "We need to talk."

Vincent grimaces, having been ready to go shower and change. "Kristoff... I have a date with Swedish twins. I'm sure this lecture, whatever it is, can wait." He moves to walk past him.

Kristoff steps accordingly and puts a hand firmly on his shoulder. "I do not think so. You can call them shortly to apologize for being late. This important and needs to be discussed privately."

Vincent stops, about to have removed Kristoff's hand, when the tone sinks in. It's one of rare deepness. He holds off a flinch. "...is this about him?" He's already reaching for his cellphone.

"No, not a thing to do with Him," Kristoff assures him quickly. "It's about Andrea."

Vincent relaxes, but only for a moment. "Is she alright? Have her repairs from the Skrull incident not held up?"

"No difficulties in that regard, but she has been experiencing some distress, confusion," Kristoff explains quietly, gesturing Vincent into his own room. "I believe a friend's behavior is contributing to this; he is being either remarkably selectively unobservant or a complete cad."

Vincent's expression darkened, and he tilted his head from side to side, cracking his neck. "And you wish me to have words with him?" He flipped open his phone. "Oh yes, I believe my schedule can be adjusted. Oh yes indeed...."

Kristoff will wait in blank silence while Vincent deals with his typical slatternly behavior other engagement.

"You do not sound if you are giving him quite as much of the benefit of the doubt as I am, but then, the man has, for quite some time, constantly solicited her attention, including minor physical contact at any opportunity, made veiled and not-so-veiled threats against others who seemed to be expressing an interest in her -- though he's made no effort to give up on other women -- and generally encouraged the interest on her part that is confusing her so without properly acknowledging anything of the kind is happening. But I am, still, giving him the benefit of the doubt."

Vincent felt something welling in his stomach, leaving him at a loss for words. He almost said something, but it seemed to die just short of his lips. He looked up at his brother's stern expression as his mouth shut again.

An eye twitched. "What are you getting at?"

"You need to give a lot of thought to your attitude towards Andrea, Vincent. I believe Andrea is now fairly assured that there is nothing wrong with her, but the two of you need to make sense of how you feel and deal with it in some capacity."

Vincent felt his stomach plummet somewhere sub-crustal (which was no small thing considering the size of the Baxter Building to begin with). "I...." He laughed nervously. "What are you talking about? I don't have feelings for Andrea? That's ludicrous."

Perhaps slightly shaky, he moved back until he found something to sit on. "I don't get feelings, of that nature. Kristoff... it's me."

"...Devel, Vincent, don't give me that. It is not a choice of two extremes between being incapable of romantic entanglement and having never looked at another woman in your life. You are seventeen; it is hardly appropriate to jump to that kind of conclusion."

Vincent was more than slightly disoriented, having been hurled bodily over a mental event horizon. He held his stomach as he spoke. "I mean... Andrea's my best friend. It's not like I've ever had any abysmally bad partings, but..." He bites his lip.

"What happens if I'm wrong about something with her?"

That puts Vincent back on the defensive enough to reorient himself somewhat. He gives Kristoff a mild glare. "You're enjoying this, aren't you?"

"As a matter of fact I am not," Kristoff says, completely seriously. "Not after listening to Andrea. I will not violate her privacy further by going into detail but no, I do not find the issue particularly funny at this point. As I said, she was somewhat reassured, but the two of you need to talk fairly soon, and I do hope you will sort yourself out enough to talk with her honestly."

"So I'm supposed to just walk up to her and proclaim 'I've discovered that we have feelings for each other'? You expect me to be that blunt?" Vincent looked at his brother incredulously. "Me?"

Kristoff's words caught up. "'Not after listen--...'" Vincent's expression darkened, grim composure setting in. "What's wrong? What aren't you telling me?"

"Ironic as it is that you are quite blunt about my personal life, that is not what I am saying," Kristoff says quietly. "But she may be trying to broach the subject very soon. And if you truly find yourself certain that it is not worth endangering your friendship, you will have the nerve to tell her so, and you will not set her up to compare herself unfavorably with your usual repertoire."

Vincent curled up his face in frustration, knowing there was more than his brother was letting on, but also that he wouldn't be able to pry it loose just yet.

"Do you have any advice?" He sighed heavily.

"The diner on 113th?" Kristoff wasn't stooping to street-corner food stands unless there there was an illness in the family.

Vincent nods grimly. "Cheese fries with turkey gravy will do fine. And an open-face roast beef. Yes, I think that will suffice..."

Not willing to wait through any awkward silences in transit, he reaches for his brother's hand. "Hang on."

Vincent rolls his eyes, then murmurs the incantation. The two of them reappear in an alley a few blocks from the restaurant. He strides out and down the street without looking to see if Kristoff is following.

Vincent strode into the diner with his hands stuffed in his pockets, seating himself at the end of the counter.

A waitress weaved her way over to him a moment later. "How you doin tod-- Oh hey! You... you're Vincent Amorason, from the F4, right?"

Vincent looked up from the scowl he'd been going over the menu with, trying to dissipate his scorn lest an innocent bystander be blown away by it. "Yes, that's..." Oh great, she his type too. Curves in the right places, a piercing or three to hint at some wilder side, and long hair. "..that's me." He managed a polite smile. It would have been a smile with a purpose, if not for his brother's words still twisting in his brain and stomach.

Kristoff, following after, sits beside him, also smiles politely, and orders a lemonade. He meets his brother's eyes blankly over the respective menus.

The waitress smiles at Kristoff's arrival as well, but her focus is on Vincent. She leans forward, grinning. "So what can I get you two handsome guys?" She might have said it in the plural, but she was only looking one direction.

This was not lost in Vincent, who further tried to bury his head in his menu. "Diet Coke with lime. Hot roast beef sandwich, cheese fries with a side of gravy please."

Vincent grimaced. "Oh... so Cassandra knows; and possibly Susan. Reed is brilliant, but I'm fairly certain this would have escaped him.... Storm and Grimm... I can't make a speculation in strong enough confidence."

He managed another polite smile as their food arrived, doing his best (with a great amount of will power) to rebuff the waitress' attempt at small talk.

Vincent started working his way through the fries, groaning uncomfortably. It was quite a sight, to see him this disoriented. He huffed, deciding this didn't suit him, and gave his brother a flat gaze.

"At least, hopefully, I can have learned from some of your mistakes with Cassandra up until this point; should this become a relationship."
